So got a quote for an engine which has done 120k with 3 months warranty on it (from Euro1). Apologies if my questions looks dumb but just new to this. Do I need to go to a beamer specialist to get the engine replaced or any local guy can do it ? After the engine has been replaced, would it need to be recoded ? One of the workman I just spoke with said I will need to reconfigure (recode) vanos . Not sure if engine replacement is a way to go or just sell it aiwi cause the whole engine replacement, labour job is costing around 4K

How much a second hand engine would cost ideally ? My understand it that i will need to go someone like Jeff Grays to code it as well ?

Hi guys. So my BMW 320i 2006 shat down the other day. When i start the car and rev it, I hear the tacking noise (When u put a stick in a moving house fan, the same kind of noise). The car is struggling to go pass 40km/ph now. Check engine sensor came up. 2 Mechanics have told me it is the chain and valve issue which could be upto 7k job (Havent opened the engine yet) Has anyone had this kind of issue before and is it actual a 7k job ? Bought this car for 11k and it looks silly tbh if I am spending 7k on top. If any can recommend someone in Chc who I can go and have a 3rd opinion about it.

Yes pretty sure oil in it. I'll get the car full serviced this week and reset the codes. Lets see if it comes back. Worst come worst, I'll get the oil sensor and Oil pressure switch replaced.

Bought the car last Dec, Had it properly serviced. The fault just started 1 week back so got it scanned by a local guy in Christchurch . It makes sense now that all 3 faults are oil related and I wanted to get the parts replaced (For my satisfaction). 3k I got told were for parts and diagnostics. Labour charge was extra. Reading a lot on the forums is making me question if 3k+ worth when I can get these parts from UK on a good rate.

I bought this of a guy .. so dealer is out of question. Went to BMW authorized dealer and they quoted my 3k (A bit too much imo)

Hi guys, So Just did a car scan and it came out with 3 different codes 2F9E Thermal oil level sensor 2A6F Valvetronic, minimum lift exceeded 2F7B Oil Pressure Switch I am planning to get the Thermal oil sensor and Oil Pressure switch replaced. Is there any place in NZ (Christchurch preferably) where I can buy the parts and get this replaced through a workshop. Thanks in Advance. Rav
