    85 e30 turbo

    4AGE - various revisions, 91-121Kw(?) available in: Levin, Trueno, Corolla, FX GT, AW11. (FR, FF, MR) 4AGZE (supercharged) Two revisions, 111 series 1 120Kw series 2 *Rare*(?) available in: Levin (FR) AW11 SC, AW11 SE (MR) 4AGZ-TE (Twincharger) Specially made kit for 4AGZE by HKS - good luck finding one... With the TD05 turbo it made about 350HP and tourque all over the place. Mainly in Levins, but better in AW11's. The ZE has lower compression settings and is a better block for the turbo conversion - 4AGTE. All 4AGE's from 86 onwards use the ZE block whether they were ZE's or not. Major differences between the two are a SuperCharger (c12) obviously, and: Manifold, intake, Pistions. The ZE does not have VVTI (previously known as TVIS). Not to be mistaken wth the 3SGE as found in the Celica, Curren, or SW20

    Update.... I finally took the car to a BMW specialist. If there's anyone in Wellington reading this I totally reccomend Page European on Home Street. They've got an excellent hourly rate and they do "just that bit extra" which makes taking your car to a mechanic seem less wimpy than trying to fix it yourself... Anyway, long story short, apparentley its supposed to sound like it does Is there anyone else driving a non vanos E36 320i that can confirm this for me?
  3. Ladies and gentlemen.... After a fair bit of self diagnosis and a trip to a helpful Honda mechanic (refferal from a friend) I've decided that that I have one or two issues that I need to deal with on the E36. The car hasn't been getting such good mileage since I brought it, And I've discovered recentley that the whistling noise I hear when I stop down on the gas is actually not a good thing (cut me some slack, I've come from a supercharged Toyota)... If I take the car for a quick drive, say, along the motorway and I come to a stop at a set of lights, I slip the car into neutral and it idles pretty crap, almost as if it weren't firing on all cylinders, but its sort of random, and not "that" rough. If I stick it in 2nd and plant boot, the car takes off with a disturbing amount of omph for a car its size. It also pulls along quite nice over 3k, it isn't mis-firing, back firing, and I don't believe its down on power. The Honda guys checked over the timing with a Haynes manual for me, and told me that it was aligned properly. They also checked the firing order, which was okay, the plugs, which were new, and the leads and distributor, which also passed the checks. I've replaced the air filter, and I've run a check over the 02 sensor, which is fine. The gentleman at Honda informed me that they thought there was a vacuum at the "Intake area", but because they're more familiar with the workings of the H22A and the B16 engines, they didn't know what the M50 was supposed to sound like. So, Vaccuum leak sounds like a safe bet. Who's experienced this? what am I going to have to pay to get this fixed up - ball park figures? I like to try and get this sort of thing fixed in my garage with a hammer and some gear from SuperCheap, alas, I don't have the tools or know how to fix a semi major like this one. Any good advice out there in BMW land? Cheers all.
  4. Okay... So the boss gave me the day off tomorrow. Finally I get a chance to give the car a good service. She needs a new o2 sensor and I ordered one from Repco, the guy that I spoke with was courteous very helpful, unfortunately neither of us have a lot of experience with BMW's and the part that his computer told him I needed (that I ordered and collected today) was a shoddy, single wire generic part. Personally, I suck at stripping wires and fashioning things back together AND I'm now lead to believe I need a four wire plug anyway. I see a lot of .coms are able to get me a proper Plug to plug sensor, but all the cars that they list for start at the 325. I have a 320i, and I'm going to assume that the extra displacement in the 325 M50 will need a different sensor(?) So the questions are: Where the hell do I get a sensor for a 320i 2litre M50? OR, is a 325 the plug I want? Where can I get one in Wellington.... At short notice.... "A dealer/service company" quoted me a Bosch part imported from germany for $575.00. I refuse to pay that sort of money for an o2 sensor, considering there are about 300,000,000 in circulation around the world. GRRRR. :drugs:

  8. Hi all. I'm doing some small repairs this weekend, one of which is to address the squeaky seats that I have - going to try and tighten some bolts and throw some washers around. The question is - I've been lead to believe that If I remove my seat, I trigger the air bag check light on the dash, is this correct? is there a way to avoid the problem, I don't want to pay 25 bucks just to get a light reset, but if it came on, I'd go crazy looking at it - worse yet if it shuts off the cars computer (which someone else also mentioned it may do) I'd be in deep trouble. Help? 91 - E36 320i. - japan import. Cheers.

  11. Muricias (hows it spelt?) blue, 4 door. I live in J'ville and the beemer's only been up there a couple of times. You may be familiar with my other car, the infamous Q1KTOY - the beat up silver gray AW11 with the shitty exhaust note.That was my thrash car, If I were in it I probably would (actually I definitley would) have given the rolla a race, I love that piece of road.

  13. Just an interesting observation I've made in the last week of owning the car. No one lets me into traffic, No one gives way, everyone seems to want to race me and older drivers (I'm 24) give me silly looks. I mean, there's a lot of tall poppy syndrome out there, but I'm in an E36 320, a good Honda costs about the same... Who's been keyed, cut off, blocked in, tooted at and abused out there?
