  1. Yep comes off, 2 13mm bolts holding that whole housing to the head. I have a spare entire housing liying around of no use if you want it give me a PM.. Just place your sensors into it, thermostat and bolt it back to the head and join the hoses up.

    PMd

judging by the amount of crap that has blocked it up i would recomment a new thermostat, also putting a hosepipe through your radiator and through your motor. to get that part (thermostat housing off you will need to undo the 2 13mm bolts holding it to the block, you will also need to loosen your fuel rail and remove any sensors in it as they will hit on the fuel rail when trying to remove. once removed replace with a good unit. new thermostat, and just check the condition of the hoses while your at it. flush it all out as well as you can with the garden hose, refit all parts, seal between the thermostat housing and the block with a gasket, or liquid rtv. and bleed cooling system with good coolant.

Thanks for that. Will be doing exactly this.

That's what my cooling system looked like after my head gasket blew and oil went through it....

    +1 to everything oli said.

Would even be tempted if you have the cash to get a radiator place to clean it out properly... that crap isn't good for your waterpump.

Oh damn. Blown head gasket? The symptoms of a blown head gasket arent really happening but is there any other way of checking?

  2. Im in need of some help. One of the radiator hoses has blown off and has taken the male bit with it. It is the one located underneath the radiator pipes on the engine itself. Can it be repaired or changed? Can i do it myself?

Here are some photos of it

  3. Well got a second hand cluster from Andrew. Cluster was working when it was taken out but when i put it on mine, the check light didnt and temp gauge didnt work. I pulled apart both and mix and matched the ones that werent working. So now got the old cluster, with the new speedo, fuel gauge, SI board and rpm. and now the check light doesnt work on the old one.

Just wondering if a 318 cluster is the same as a 320?

  4. Ur buying a honda arent you ?

Yeah its a honda. Rolling chassis and is hell cheap. Plus i still got an engine sitting in the garage so might as well..

Or you could ring Shady's mate at transpro services.

    Funny read that.

Is this a transport firm like bikerchris is talking about?

    http://www.captaintransporter.co.nz/index.php

I've not used their services before, but someone on NZhondas has and said it was good and reasonably priced. There's an online calculator too (but no Hastings listed)

$291+GST from Napier if the car is drivable

Bad thing is the car isnt drivable. Its pretty much rolling and has no wind screen and no wof so i doubt the guy would risk getting it up to Napier. $291? Thats cheap as, might try see if i can get it towed to Napier with a proper towy. Bad thing about the whole towing thing is that i cant personally see it as many have said. And pics can be deveiving...

Also if anyones in the know of a good mate that knows things about cars and is willing to check it out please pm me.

  5. Just needing everyones opinion if i should tow a car from hastings to auckland or if i should just go borrow a trailer and just get it myself.

Also if you know any good cheap towies that can do the job please let me know or if theres another way of getting it up.

The trip down to hastings from aucks is around 500km one way and the towy will cost around $400. What do you reckon is more worth doing?

Also the car is just a rolling chassis and engine is not running yet..

  6. MY engine is a 320i and its overheating very very slowly. Like it takes while for it to overheat. Usually i can drive around with the temp on normal for atleast half an hour and after that the temp would slowly rise up. Overheating light doesnt go on but light may be faulty.

Could it be thermostat? And also the fan doesnt seem to be running fast too..
