  1. i don't think you can clean disas. N52 got two disas. i bought them from the US (one genuine bmw the other vaico, you can check the prices on FCPEuro) and replaced them myself. i wouldn't do it for anyone for less than $1500...there's no cheap chinese made for disa i believe. BMWs are expensive to fix! vanos solenoid, there're cheap chinese made ones. i first got two which didn't work. then i got another two from a different chinese supplier, which turned off the check engine light but the car still underperformed... until i got two bmw ones for US$150 each..
  2. I work at a dealership. it's almost a requirement here all european cars be sold with a mechanical warranty. apart from extra profit off the warranty, so if anything goes wrong, we're covered as well. from an owner's perspective though, it's always best to invest time and money into your own DIY know how can do... if you plan on a long term ownership and want to save money. bmws are endless money pits lol and a lot of problems are either not covered by the warranty or not worth making a claim
  3. it went ok(i did go back under the car a few times to fix mechatronic sleeve seating, it's a PITA)... after change, i experienced a jolt whenever it downshifts from 3 to 2 or 2 to 1. i googled the problem and found out some people also have the same problem even using the zf fluid. so it appears to have nothing to do with fluid used. i then updated the EGC module to the latest version and that appears to have remedied the problem somewhat...the jolt is still there but you probably won't feel it unless i tell you...to completely remedy the problem, they say you'll have to replace the solenoids inside, for which i don't have the money or time now... update 13/02/2020 2000kms after, the transmission shifts like a dream... the 2nd to 1st jolt is totally gone... i'm not sure exactly what caused it initially but if you do the job right and make sure you update the EGC module and give it some mileage to break in the new fluid, it should be good, Valvoline Max life ATF that is, you can get it for about $65 for 4L, way cheaper than OEM fluids. in the end i'm just glad i don't have to change the solenoids.
  4. it has cost me nearly $10k for 5 years of ownership of a 2005 525i... everything they say could go wrong has... and i'm doing oil filter housing and cooler gasket this week and two rear upper arm bushes are on the way from the states... and front left sway bar link also broken and i still have a broken CCC and leaking oil pan gasket to replace... for which i don't have money or time... that said, the engine performs like new now and i love driving it
  5. i have the same transmission. i decide to go with vavoline maxlife atf and will let you know how it goes...
