I had a lot of work done to her, new front shocks, lot of rear suspension work done, auto electrician sorted a lot of issues etc etc..
She was in a really sorry state when I bought her, apart from the engine she's pretty good now.
Easy enough to drop another engine into her, even a LS and have a really cool cruiser.
I would do the engine swap/conversion but my circumstances have changed and I'm off to work in Oz for a while , so don't need to start a project.
She's a beautiful old girl who deserves to be saved.

1985 Mercedes W123 230 TE Station Wagon.
225, 000 miles, not kilometresAS IS WHERE IS.
SPARES OR REPAIR.
Gave this car to a garage to sort out a few jobs for a warrant, they did the jobs then managed to sieze the engine.. After a couple of weeks with oil down the bores etc they managed to free the engine. Unfortunately, they totalled destroyed the engine doing so...
So it needs a replacement engine, Ive been talking to a guy who's got a good engine for $750.
Apart from the engine issue she's got a few bits of bodywork to sort out, nothing structural, mainly around the windows and front scuttle..
This car owes me $3500, I'm not putting any more money into it.
The price is $2500.

Had a proper full scan of the car. Now no faults recorded, however the problem is getting worse..
Blip the throttle on tickover and you hear a big gulp of air, misfire, then revs OK..
While I'm driving at a steady speed the revs keep dropping by about 200 rpm then it picks up again to the original rpms, after a few seconds the revs drop again.. If I'm accelerating this problem doesn't seem to show itself.
It's now started to be a bit indecisive about gear selection, dropping a gear only to change back up almost immediately...
I've had it in two garages, neither can find the fault...
Do you guys have any ideas.???
Thanks.

Seems its nothing to do with the transmission.. Had the car scanned, no codes for any transmission.
However, got misfire on 1 and 2 which can cause the symptoms I noticed.
Changed out the coils and plugs on those cylinders, still got the misfire. Car is pulling alright on the road, but when ticking over I blip the throttle there's a misfire.. At the same time as I rev the engine I can hear a big suck of air from somewhere, I'm thinking a vacuum leak.? Checked all the pipes etc, can't see any obvious damage to pipes etc. Saw on YouTube guys using brake cleaner, spray it around all pipes/gaskets etc, listen for different engine revs.. I'll try that next.
Have you guys any suggestions as to other causes.?
Thanks.

Gearbox judder...
Noticed a gearbox judder, feels like running over a rough road for a few seconds. It's only done it a couple of times in the last three days, hopefully I can catch this problem before it gets really expensive..
I'm thinking maybe a filter and oil change for the box.??
Thanks.

Right side indicator on constantly, unless I click down to indicate left, then no indicators working at all.
This situation lasted a couple of days, then problem corrected itself.. Now its back again, except now its the left hand indicator that's constantly on...

Hey guys thanks for the invaluable advice.. Seems they're not going to fit. It's a shame as they're original Alpinas for a good price..
-
Mpars.?

Got the chance to buy a set of Alpinas for the 540...
Got limited info on the wheels, wondering if you guys had any insight on whether they would fit...
This is the info I have..
Wheel specs: 18x8 front , 18x9 rear
Unsure of offsets but what I can see on the wheels are 8jx18 e47 for front, 9jx18 e38 for rear.
Thanks for any help...
