  1. Model: 2010 116i (N43) I got my car serviced recently and a few errors were encountered related to the NOx sensor as shown below. 12 Engine electronics 3 errors 2AF4: 0x2AF4 nitrogen oxide sensor, electric 2AF2: 0x2AF2 nitrogen oxide sensor, Lambda linear 2AF6: 0x2AF6 nitrogen oxide sensor, Lambda binary My mechanic mentioned this is very common for N43 and isn't critical, hence, it can be fixed during the next service. The car runs mint, however, I would like to get it fixed soon with the NOXEM. Has anyone used this?, if so what are your thoughts? Cheers, ~VD
  2. Alright, finally got it checked by my mechanic and he says the sound is coming from the gas pump and not from the car's gas tank. Just putting it here in case anyone else encounters this!
  3. Got a few bimmers at my workplace. I'll check with them and see.
  4. I tried clearing it using the car scanner app but was detected again. Seems like the scanner app was unsuccessful in effectively clearing the NVM where the code stored on the ECU. I'll just get it looked at by my mechanic next service,
  5. If that's the case, I'd have to get it checked by my mechanic and claim for any repairs/parts. But, why do you say do? Failing fuel pump?
  6. Hi folks, Hope you all are enjoying the fantastic weather! I have been noticing a strange high frequency tone when filling gas in my car. Has anyone encountered this before? Could this be a sign of something failing or am I just being paranoid? I have attached a video recording of the issue. Any insights would be helpful. IMG-6429.MOV
  7. Make: BMW Model: 116i Year: 2010 Chassis: E87 Hey, fellow bimmers, I hope you all are having a wonderful day! I bought an OBDII diagnostic scanner a few days ago and scanned my car for the first time. I got the following error codes. ============1============== DTC C947 Raw code: C947 ECU: SRS/Airbag Status: Pending fault present during this driving cycle, Validated and stored in non-volatile memory, Validated fault present at time of request ============2============== DTC ABEA ======================================= The following emission tests failed (see the below attached screenshot). Weirdly, I have no warning lights or any sort of light indicating this on the dashboard. I have read that damaged catalytic converters can affect performance and lead to carbon buildup. I'd like to get anything critical fixed now than later before something else breaks and I end up getting a big bill. What are your thoughts on the above? Thank you for your time and patience. ~VD
  8. Finally, decided to grab this one . Works with bimmer code!
  9. @M3AN, which OBD adaptor do you use? I wanted to buy Carly but just found it to be too expensive.
  10. I think Carly will always have me paranoid about my car with those many potential issues showing up in the app!🤣
  11. @Antallica, the carly scanners looks pretty good. Which package did you get, the basic or the premium one? Looks like the premium one has a lot more features but not sure how useful they may be as of now.
  12. Came across this one. A BLE based and a cheap one but not sure how good it is though.
  13. Make: BMW Model: 116i Year: 2010 Chassis: E87 I'd like to buy an OBD scanner so I can learn how to use one and start using it when necessary. Before I go about buying something, I am keen to get some recommendations and your experiences on how useful it is.
  14. @KwS, got it, will upgrade in a few months' time. No wonder there are so many low KM's 116i's floating around in the market. Apparently, I had bought a mechanical breakdown warranty at the time of purchase, so my dealer told me he'll get all the issues fixed directly by BMW workshop.
  15. @KwS, sell it and then buy which? Thought, If I make sure to maintain it via proper servicing once every 5K and stay on top it, it should be all right for the long haul. But I think that may not be the case here?
  16. Thanks for the insights. Hopefully, I can get these issues resolved at the dealers expense.
  17. @Palazzo, yes, will do. I also got a quote from the mechanic shown below. I have emailed the quote to my dealer as well for his reference. Once I have all these or most of these issues fixed, I'll opt in for a 1-year mechanical breakdown insurance just to be on the safer side. What are your thoughts on the below?
  18. @Jacko, I agree since I had a Honda Fit before this one, however the drive experience is something that cannot be compared to the BMW's, especially the whooing sound it makes😅 Between, I just spoke to my dealer a few minutes ago and he's told me to drop off the car at his workshop early next week to get it checked by his mechanic. I have a question, since I already have the report of the issues, is it worth persuading the dealer to get it fixed directly at the BMW workshop or for now I just drop it at his workshop and let him deal with it as fit?
  19. @Palazzo, I have flicked an email to the dealer and will ring him up tomorrow to see what he has to say. If he shows any sort of attitude or ignores, I'll start compiling all the evidence and will lodge a complaint via MVDI. Meanwhile, I'll follow @TonyT's suggestions and continue driving it while I look for other temporary options.
  20. @balancerider, If I swap it for another one, which BMW hatchback would you reccommend in terms of reliability and maintenance provided the vehicle has no issues? I have learnt a few things after having bought this car and do not want to repeat the same mistakes again.
  21. I don't think I'd be able to DIY due to my lack of experience. I bought this from a dealer a few months ago until I got an engine oil warning light lit up on my dashboard, after which I realized it's got all these issues. Do you reckon I should just get rid of it?
  22. Hey everyone, I got my car full service today with inspection for maintenance and here's what I got back from the workshop. NOTES: Engine sump leaking oil Front and rear shocks are leaking oil Front bump stops need replacing Pollen filter needs replacing Recommend replacing the spark plugs as they are quite worn Diff is leaking oil Recommend a diff service Here is the link to all the pictures of the above. Could some experts/experienced bimmers please have a look at the pictures and advise on what I should get fixed first. Thank you, ~VD
