  1. I painted my 325i badge.

The badges come off easily enough, i've heard of floss etc being used.

Mask off the M stripes, clean and lightly sand the peice you want black.

Apply as many light coats of satin/matt/gloss black, your choice, as it takes.

Make sure you shake the can alot so the paints not to blodgy (real word?)

Repco sells trim trape tape to stick it back on.

yeah i figured it might have to be the old spray can....lol...

was trying for a more 'professional' solution....I dont trust my spray painting skills...but hey I'll give it a go if i have to!

Have your badge chipped or flakes off?

    did you use primer?

  2. Be keen to hear your Remus exhaust compared to my factory standard...

What's your plan with the LED angel eyes? Do they simply slot into the existing headlight casing?

that could be arranged since you live in welly's!

any spare sunny weekend mate,... no worries.

I picked up some LED blubs like what hellbm got off a fella on trade me. They are as simple as a blub replacement.

The middle one in your headlight assembly. google it for pictures if required.

Since it's just an LED blub it's hard to justify $120 odd USD plus $80USD for shipping for Umnitza's.

  3. I thought your engine in the gtr was pretty new, what broke?

    Hey rot62 - fancy seeing you here....lol

head gasket failure at my first event.

burned 3 pistons. None too happy about it, but just waiting for the machinist to finish the block now.

  4. Hmm yeah I would rather see in-car clips with the M5 V8 sound rather than low res clips in another car playing lame music shooting your nice M5 through dirty windows.

unfortunately ... that's all we got.

And yes leaving the recording to my mates girlfriend usually leaves alot to be desired..... <_<

  5. What was involved in getting it to 2.8? was the much mid range gain? We have an rb26dett r34 gtr and it needs more boogie..got about 500hp t the moment. By the way, stunning M5.

    cheers mate.

Mine is a 2.8 tomei kit. It's a stoker crank with 87mm pistons. HKS do one as well.

You need a good condition block (you don't want to go above 87mm) unless you get a N1 block.

You need a good machinist as you need to clearance the bottom of the block for the extra throw of the crank.

Boost comes on about 500 - 1000rpm earlier....torque is the big winner tho and why you do it.

I have smallish response turbos and she will pull in any gear from about 2000rpm to the redline. Miss a gear? wrong gear? No problems....!!

There's plenty of talk around nissan forums whether a V-cam head or stroker is better .... for me since I wanted to strengthen the bottom end and use the car for sprint racing it was a no brainer to spend a bit more to get the added torque.

You could just go a thicker head gasket and stuff more boost to get more power out of your 2.6 but it will be more peaky power. If you are thinking a rebuild anyway then investigate the costs.

It turned out to only be a few thousand more over a 2.6 rebuild for me, but it's all personal preference as well as what the exchange rate is at!

  6. Good work mate, LMs are a great choice.

I've also got an R32 GTR which a friend and I are turning into a race car.

sweet dude. I have raced mine for about 2 years now, on and off. Currently the motor is getting rebuild due to a part failure however they are seriously awesome cars to drive on the limit.

Let me know if you need any advice, I've pretty much been there and done that with the GTR.

  7. more clean pictures!

thanks for the positive comments guys.

I have spent alot of time, effort and of course money building what I believe is the ultimate version of the ultimate M car.

    IMO anyway.

If anyone whom has a e39 M5 or similar and needs some advice to upgrades etc...just ask!

If it's worth doing I have either done it or have plans to!

    B):P

  8. Australia is wrong, they use different channel settings to NZ.

The correct setting was PAL Europe, then you get all VHF-I, VHF-II and UHF channels

On my E39, I received all 11 free-to-air analog channels in Auckland, in varying quality depending on location, but the VHF channels were pretty good all the time

You also get the Sky UHF channels, with the occasional channel being unencrypted :-)

    thanks everyone!!!

I'll test this tomorrow, it will make waiting to pickup the girlfriend infinately more bareable

  9. So I have been looking into a performance chip for my mild tune (exhaust & filters) e39 M5 however alot of them are very expensive at $1200+!!!!

I also have read about the bluefin unit however this is unavailable for my car as yet.

Are there any local alternatives to these over priced euro chips?

Has anyone got some good advice? Or good / bad experiences??

  10. Hi fellas, I have a NZ new e39 with the widescreen tv however I struggle to get TV reception. I was wanting to know what settings everyone has theirs set to? region etc

I think I have it set to pal & Australia Zone as there is no NZ but I can only get grainy images, not really worth watching.

my old car the reception was pretty good so I know it worked before or and I missing something??

Have tvnz turned off the analoge signal?

    Any help apprciated!

  11. Welcome Darren

    cheers mate.

I'll clean her up and post some new pics after the weekend.
