Hi Guys, Just checking in the general discussion incase i get some more advice. As i posted in the maintenance section i have a 1990 535is and just the other day i was driving it and it suddenly started running rough almost like it has a bad miss, just running crap. Here are the symptoms. - Idle - fairly similar to normal just a bit rougher - Low rev range - Car is loud, feels completely powerless and if you push the throttle right down the car struggles to move as if its choking or not able to get petrol. There is also a strange almost metallic tink occasionally, seems to be only at a certain rev range. - Higher revs - Car almost seems to be driving normal just a less power and louder than normal. Almost sounds like a boxer subaru when the revs get high. - Sounds like a tractor. I took it to be scanned and the o2 sensor off the cat came back as being at fault. What are the opinions of everyone on here? Is this likely to be the problem, almost sounds like the symptoms are too severe to be just a sensor, surely? Thanks for any help, Greatly appreciated, Sam

Hi guys I have a 1990 BMW 535is, last night when i was driving the car it suddenly started running rough and sounds like it has a miss or something. It has very little power and when you get to the medium to higher rev range it sounds a bit like a boxer engine or something its low and loud. I took it to be diagnostic scanned and the results said the O2 sensor off the exhaust. I was just wanting to check with the bimmersporter's whether they have heard of such a problem and whether you think that sensor is likely to be causing the problem. Another thing to note is that it doesnt seem too much rougher when you are idling but when it drives the problem is extremely obvious? Thanks for any help,

Disconnected the boot actuator to no avail, i have read up and will next try to check the driver and passenger door handle actuators, i believe by disconnecting and trying to lock and seeing if it stays locked.

Hi there, I have recently purchased a 535is to have my first electrical problem. The doors won't stay locked. The car has a full obc and a factory alarm also. When i turn the key to just lock or full turn to alarm the car after anywhere between 5seconds to a minute or so the doors will unlock themselves, even when it is dead-locked. I have played around with the door switches and they all seem to be working fine as the interior lights dont stay on to suggest the door appears open. Are there any fuses that could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Also note that when the doors unlock themselves and i open the door the alarm goes off so clearly the alarm is staying armed properly but the locks have a mind of their own.

Hi guys, Before i ring around every parts supplier i can find wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of where to get upper control arms for an e34. I'm going to try McMillan in Newmarket but wondering where else might have them available? Thanks

Hi guys, Just wanting peoples views on an E32 740i. Are these known to have any major issues, what would reliability as a daily driver be like. The one im looking at has done just over 200k but appears to have been properly serviced. Also what should i realistically be budgeting for around town driving?

Sweet will know by the end of the day if im definitely getting it or not. At this stage looks like i probably will be but ill let everyone know by the end of the day. By the way im in Royal Oak, Auckland.

Hi guys, I was thinking about buying a guard rolling machine and was just wanting to know whether any of the guys on here would be keen to use it for like $20, the rollers a bit more than what im wanting to spend at the moment but i thought if some guys chucked in 20 bucks and could use it for their cars could be a bit easier on my wallet haha, certainly a lot cheaper than getting it done professionally and a lot better than getting out the baseball bat haha. If anyone would be keen for $20 (thats so u can use it for all 4 corners) then just reply to this or pm me, if i can get like 5 people or something who want to use it for $20 i can afford to buy it so yeh, just pm me or something. Thanks guys, Sam UPDATE: I ended up just biting the bullet and buying the roller. So, if anyone wants to use it as stated $20 and you can use it. I should have it by Tuesday 28th. Im in Royal Oak, Auckland. If you want to use it either reply here, pm me, email at [email protected] or text/call 021 926 299. Note: Best thing to do also is heat up the guard so you don't crack the paint. You will need a heat gun or you can borrow mine for like $10 as its my dads i need to cover my ass incase it breaks haha. (Nb: If for any reason the roller doesn't fit on your car i ain't gonna charge you)

Might have to go have a look at that one, do you know the seller? Also, what was the manual 5 series you were talking about before, any more information about it.

Just bumping to have a quick update. Circumstances have now changed and we are looking at a MANUAL e36, e34 or e30. Budget is around $6000 or so. Must be relatively low kms, tidy interior and exterior, leather if possible. E36's are preferred and we'd prefer a 318is or a 320i or above. Thanks guys,
-
Price range is around the 6k mark, specifically after a manual

Got a mate who might be looking at buying this, just wondering what everyones opinion on it is and what, if anything, should be looked out for if we go to look at it. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=381039148 Thanks, Sam

Hi there guys, I'm helping a mate look for a car and thought i may aswell try here in case anyone has any suggestions/has seen or has something that could match the description. Looking for a manual BMW E36 or E34 are preferred however may consider an E30 if its good mechanical condition. Manual is essential or auto with a manual conversion 2 or 4 door but 4 door is preferred Body should be straight but paint doesn't necessarily have to be perfect. Engine should be good condition Preferring to be under 200,000kms if possible but may go slightly over if the condition makes it worth it Price can be negotiated, we're thinking around the $6000 and under mark but really just looking to see whats out there. Interior we're not so concerned about as long as it isn't badly worn And yes we have been checking trade me quite often but you may see something i've missed. Thanks for any help guys, Sam Edited: We are now looking around the 6k mark, mainly for manual e36's 318is or 320 > is preferred

Hi guys, I have been thinking about importing some hid blue/white look bulbs. They have a colour temperature of 8500k so give off a white / blue tinted light. I had these in my car ages ago but cant find them on the market anymore and all the other 'blue look' bulbs ive bought are just yellow crap. Below are some pictures of when they were in my chaser. Please guys let me know a couple things; is there a market? at what price? and also whether a 7500k white temperature would be better on the market, basically 8500k but without the blue tint. If i was to bring these in they would probably be selling at around $30, what do you guys think? Honest opinions please. Thanks

Videos: - Visual Walkaround - Engine Vid - Test Drive - ExhaustAnother note: Just checked with my mate, is not using any oil or water but he said the sensors are faulty on the check control, thats why its showing coolant and oil to be checked.

Here are some more pictures of the other parts it come with, are being stored in the boot just on grass for display. Have had a bit of interest in the car and therefore i have taken a few videos of the car walkarounds and such. Am uploading to youtube as we speak, will put up links when done. Note: they arent professionally done and were done in a bit of a rush, unedited and were taken with just me so driving shots arent the best haha, as i say inspection is best but these will be a good indication of the car for those out of town or would prefer some videos first. Links to come...

I think he was wanting a little bit more than that but ill let him know and definitely keep your offer in mind, cheers. Wanting to sell in by end of week coz neither he or i have the space to store it so if nothing better comes it might just be yours

Sorry guys accidently made a new topic instead of posting on my old one and now i cant get rid of it :S Hey guys, Just starting to see the market to help my mate sell off a 1984 bmw 320i e30. Not quite sure how much its worth but im sure some of you guys could give me an indication. Havn't got it listed anywhere else yet, bimmersport gets first dibs smile.gif Ill start with the good: - Wof & Rego - Runs and Drives Fine - 5 Speed Getrag - Near new tyres - Shocks and brakes are good - Nearly complete car - parts wise - about all the goods haha - Only 160kms! Bads - Exterior has seen better days, has had a crash resulting in front driver quarter panel and bit of bumper damaged, no damage to suspension, wheel, engine or anything, so no trouble driving just visual damage - Rest of body is sort of straight, paint is fairly bad (black) and has had rust repair in some places - Sunroof is not working at the moment but he has re-routed the drains to where they wont cause rust - Engine needs some tlc, its very loud and rumbly and has a loud ticker noise, feels a bit more gutless than it should and bad on petrol - might be on way out not sure. - Interior is ok but not great, carpets, door cards and back seats are ok but dash is cracked and front seats both have tears in them. I have been driving it around for last two days and it actually drives ok, gearbox is really good very smooth and engine does pick up ok but no race car smile.gif. Brakes seem to be quite good and steering is good aswell as suspension, so potentially it could be made into a fairly cheap daily driver. I was ideally wanting to part it out as i figured id get the most money for it that way, especially considering the manual gearbox but i just dont have the room. Any comments, suggestions, offers smile.gif please post below. Dont ask a price as i simply dont know, feel free to pm me aswell if you like. I'll try and get some pictures up this evening. Thanks guys, Sam Just some quick pictures of it, i will post more if anyone wants to see anything in particular Note also that the interior seems to be missing lots of parts, well as far as i know my mate has all the parts not there centre console etc.. but just never put them back in after he stripped it down to check for rust. If anyone is interested ofcourse these would all come with the car.
