Just wondering if anyone had found a suitable wire to use as the remote switch for an amp for a sub, an a ACC on wire? Im trying to wire a sub and everything else is already in the boot except for the wire and I really want to avoid pulling carpet etc if I can.

That wiper walk through looks good i'll try it on my days off. Reading the manual its just a brake warning light, the "brake light" light goes on on the roof when it goes on sometimes thats why im guessing its the brake light warning. The front brakes were changed not long ago.

Ive already said hello, but reintroducing myself now that I actually own a BMW Make: BMW Model: 325IA/4 SE Year: 1990 290kms, NZ New, semi full log book, its been owned by team mc millan a few times and runs very well. Hella flush Apparently I has a tow bar :s My plans for it Fix the couple of niggles, the intermittent setting for the windscreen wipers dont work and they wont automatically settle down when you turn them off, the check brake lines/ brakes/ brake light light comes on every now and then and fades in and out. Get a lip for it (will BMW have these) Do oil change and find any rust on it and fix it New Wheels and Tires, either black steelies or BBS basket weaves in the future New Stereo ( I sell home audio for a living, so whats in there just wont cut it) Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated

Hamilton. Its defiantly not a knock, its much more of a tappet click. Just making sure that there isnt some serious problem with these cars. Anything else I should look out for thats specific to these cars? This car will work out a lot cheaper than my other replace the engine and tranny in an e39 option, even after I give it a badly needed wheel and suspension upgrade.

Im looking at an e30 325, there is quite a bit of clicking comming from the head, its done a few kms and im guessing its the valve train. Is this a big issue, can it be fixed just by adjusting the valves? 325i 290kms Auto ( shifts very well) Looks mint otherwise (crack in dash, tacho doesnt work all the time) asking 2.5k Worth it? Looking for some advise or opinions, I dont mind spending some money on this car but I dont it to explode and I know MR2's but not BMWs.

Ive driven my fathers e39 with Proxy4's quite a bit and of all the tires he had they were the best by miles, but, wore out very very quickly. I have T1R's on my car currently, they are amazing.

I wish I still had the time to do this sort of work. I love the e30 and still hope to do one when the time is right. Its amazing to see that much rust, my current car is a t-top and leaks constantly but it has drains in the floor panel so no rust

If the garage I have at my flat wasn't used as a washing line and had some room maybe id do it. Do these cars benefit from exhausts or anything simple?

Cheers guys. I know about the over heating issue unfortunatly. My father has killed 3 525i's over the years, one crashed two cracked heads but this e39 is to nice to let die. Is there a way to prevent it, im not to concerned about getting some aftermarket parts if it will solve the problem, its going to be my second car for a bit potentialy but eventualy I want it to be my daily. Id love to put a different engine into it but to be honest if I was going to go blown itd be a turbo/ supercharged 1UZ but I know realisticaly it wouldnt happen so I dont entertain the fact ( or stuff it an LS1 swap). The paper clip is good to know! Ive done the cambelt and a lot of work on my MR2 so im used to working hard even to change the oil so I look forward to working on what seems like a much easier format.

Hi, My name is Mike and im from Hamilton and looking at moving into the BMW world. My father has a 300,000km 97 E39 525i with a cracked head, its in decent condition body wise and has some nice 18" Style 65 wheels (probably replica), im hoping I can get a new engine put in it from one of the boards sponsors and get it up and running. The suspension has all been re done lately, no crash damage and the auto box was fine last time I checked, all the kms have been open road. Is there a set life expectancy on the autos? Anything else I should watch out for? There are no other known problems with it and from what I can find the engine (radiator has already been replaced) and rear ball joints are what normally goes on this car. If I get the car a new engine, a good polish, fixing the curbing on the wheels and some tints are in order. Edit: Two more things to add / ask, I heard to service these cars you need to have some sort of key to re set the service count down, are these easy to get as I wish do do all the servicing myself. Two, the LCD that displays the oil service count down doesnt fully display, cheap fix?
