    BMZ 3 series Style 68. 17's

MagWarehouse want $950. -rip off? They've been relisted 3 times.

That's me asking if they'll take $700, but even at $700 I think that's expensive. No tyres and they may need a respray (look ok from the pics but I've been wrong before).

Anyone sold a set of these before or have a set?

I would've though without tyres $500 max would've been about right?

I brought a set of MINT E90 161's 17" at $350 for my 323i but have decided I don't want them (the offset means it'll look like I have 13mm spacers which will look stupid unless I lower it). Keen on sell them on and get a set of 68's but not for $950!!

  2. Wayney,

Did you honestly feel much difference after the header and exhaust mod?

I haven't had a good look but I suspect I have 2 smaller pipes into one large cat then one large pipe out from the cat to the muffler.

How did you run 2 pipes back from backs if the rear muffler only takes one pipe?

    Headers off ebay?

  3. Does anyone know if e90 rims will fit on an e46?

I've goggled it and from what I come up with:

    E90 Front 8" et34, Rear 8.5" et37

E46 runns et47 up front and et50 in the rear.

So basically it'll be like running a 13mm spacer.

    I've purchased from E90 style 161's, f 17x8, r 17x8.5 and now I'm worried they're not going to fit.

From all the searching I've done most say it'll work but all the examples are guys with sport package models. I have a e46 323i non-sport.

This guy has EXATACLY the wheels I've brought (BMW sytle 161 17x8 et34, 17x8.5 et37)

But again he states his is sport-package -meaing what I don't know.

  4. As promised in my member intro last month, the pics of the "run-about" 323i

We whipped off the ugly 15" rims and picked up a set of mint 16"s. That said, I've brought a set of BMW 17" style 161's off an E90. The offset difference will be like running e46 rims with 13mm spacers. By all accounts they'll fit with upto a 245 tyres on the rear however I'll be running 225/45's. If the rims fit nicely I'll be off to TSV for a R-30mm F-35mm drop to tidy up the overall look. Also got clear indicators on the way.

Was an ex-diplomat car with full service history, 85kms and not a stone chip on it! Really stoked with the car.

  5. If you have imported car exhaust will be 2 into 1 post cats. I modded mine post cat made big differance to mid and upper range. Your car will likely have oxy sensors behind cats, if so removing cats to replace with mufflers is a no no as this will confuse ecu and car will run lean.

What are my options then? I don't see how removing cat's and replacing with mufflers will effect the O2 sensors as the sensors will still be there, the exhuast gas just doesn't have to pass though the cat before the sensor anymore

  6. you coul always get ur ecu chipped "or Remap your standard chip". i could possibly know the guy who could do it for you will have to ask first though.

    I'm in Wellington.

Re: test drive, it's the wifes car. She drove it and liked it and that's all that really mattered at the time but the damn car has grown on me. Now I find myself reaching for her car keys leave ours 1 year old Diesel Mondeo in the drive!

  7. Okay, I've only had the 323 for a week.

Within the week it's had the horrible 15" 195/65's removed and a tidy set of BMW 16" 205/55 which made the world to difference to handling. Later on I have plans for eibach pro-kit coils, 10mm spacers and gunmetal 18" MV2 copies ...budget and wife permitting.

That all said, I'm a little disappointed with the motor.

    I guess I expected more from a 2.5l 6cyl, 170hp seems very lazy.

Not having a poke at the 318 and 320 owners but they must be commuter cars end of story. I can't for the life of me see the point in the MSport 318i.

Are there any tried and tested methods to extract a little extra? I was thinking along the lines of a K&N panel filter and having the cat's replaced with resonators, has anyone had any luck with this engine or is it a case of putting up with it or buying a 330i?

  8. I'd be keen for a welly meet.

My 323i isn't much to talk about, just a standard tidy machine.

The 15" I put on TradeMe for $260 and were snapped up in 2 hours with BUY NOW.

The car is running on the 16" pictured. 205/55/R16, made the car 10x better to drive!! the 195/65/15's are a shocking OEM fitment for the 3 series!

I am on the hunt for some of the MSPORT 17's that run a 245 rear and 225 front. Seen a couple of sets around the $900 mark but need resraying and the $$ are drying up fast this month so will be a future purchase.

    If I can't find any I'll go with the M3 replica 18's.

After that it'll be off to TSV Palmerston North to be dropped 20mm and finally sort out the tape deck with new unit. That'll be the end of the project :)

  9. Hi guys,

Just brought the wife an e46 323i (to upgrade from her Mitsi Lancer)

It's just our 'hack' car as we've got a 2010 Mondeo company car but I like it so much I often grab her keys and taken the BMW for short trips.

Pretty sure we got it for a steal, 1998 323i (e46) 85kms, ex Diplomat car with full service history at Geff Grays BMW. Not a scratch on her. Came with 15" BMW rims which I took off within 2 days and replace with 16". So if anyone is looking for a cheap set of BMW 15"s with near new tyres give me a PM.
