Hi guys, just wondering if someone could shed some light on a problem i have with my automatic trans, the button to shift the stick to drive, park etc is broken, and its REALLY hard to move the stick to drive, park, reverse etc, like you have to put alot of force on the stick to move it, is this normal? or is it because the button is broken? is the trans buggered or on its way out? cheers guys

Hey guys, ive just bought a 1993 e36 bmw, 1.8 auto, 150,000ks its had a respray quite recently so the paint work is mint (silver), its been lowered, got just standard bmw wheels at the mo, got tints, mp3 head deck, subs etc etc, its in really good condition, except that it needs new front break pads and most likely plates aswell as they are so worn that i probably cant machine the plates, was just wondering what sort of cost i would be looking at, would it be best to get plates second hand of tradme etc? i dont know to much about bmws, all i know is that parts are expensive, so anyone have any ideas on what it would cost for break pads etc, can you get them from repco or whateva or do you have to get them from bmw? also one other question whats the stud pattern for bmw wheels? e36 shape, anyone know? hope i dont sound like to much of a nob cheers guys

ahah yer i drove it hard, but didnt thrash it as such, i look after my cars, yer but now im wanting to go away from the turbos and get something more reliable and just for cruising in to work and back and resonable on petrol, so that brings me to my next question, are bmw's good on gas genearlly? i know autos do chew the petrol but wont be near as bad as my gtx which would literally cost 20 bucks a day going to town and back also one more question, is there anyway you can tell if a automatic transmission is crapping out? or is it prety much just the luck of the draw if you get a good one or not? i dont know to much about autos never had one before, any help appreciated ! cheers
