  1. So I rolled my 318ti rally car during the Taupo 2WD rally a few months ago. Not the best way to end an event that was supposed dto be a test event... I’ve crated a page on Facebook so people can follow the rebuild and the journey to leadfoot in February 2020. search for “Road to Leadfoot 2020” to find it if your interested in seeing the rebuild and on board video etc rolled off the road at approximately 140kph. https://www.facebook.com/BMWroadtoLeadfoot. Not sure if that’ll work? Here’s a few photos of the damage... about 80 days left to the big event!
  2. I had some e28 arms but from memory they were quite short in comparison to the e30 arms? Did you swap out the subframe too?
  3. The diff case is out of an E28 M5. Aparently there are two types, tall nose and the one I have. It bolts right up to the E30 subframe. I had to channel the rail above the diff to make it fit but that was easy. Ive welded lugs into that same rail where the rear diff mount bolts too, you can see it in the photo. Fairly easy really And thanks Josh!
  4. Hey, Yeah I agree with you and yup I made spare arms. The design was done by Kayne Barrie, I can't take the credit and theres some pretty trick ideas in there that you can't see! No modification to the arms needed apart from that welded plate. Uses larger off the shelf wheel bearings, E28 inner drive flange and for the compact a stronger custom hardened Hub. This is a really good solution for e30s/compacts breaking axles. I haven't seen anyone anywhere able to put a larger stronger shaft through the standard E30 arm and most parts are available off the shelf...So easy! "Sway away" make the axles and lots of off road guys use them in the states, every things on the shelf ready to go. The CV's are from GKN, but there essentially a "Porsche 108mm" cv. These are super common and you can pick them up at most performance websites selling driveline products. I went with CV as its there same as my old man runs in his GTR. His spares now become our spares haha, according to GKN the cut down CVs apparently have 30% better cooling. More surface area I suppose. If you want a strong E30 rear end give Kayne a bell.
  5. Diff, axle upgrade this year. Large case diff with 4.44 300M axles GKN motorsport cv's Larger wheel bearing to suit custom drive flange and E28 inner drive flanges. Hopefully its unbreakable!
  6. Hey, im after the fuel level sender attached to the fuel pump on an e46. there's one on both sides, I'm after the rhs one. let me know if you have a dud fuel pump assemble lying around as that would be perfect. thanks, steve
  7. Heya, am looking for the big hub nut that bolts the wheel bearing together. Think its a 36mm hex with unknown thread size at this stage. i think all E34's had the same nut. Thanks! Steve
  8. diameter should be 108mm or so. here are my photos: I'm also after a few retaining nuts that bolt the assembly together too
  9. What are the differences? Ill confirm when I get to the garage but they look like this:
  10. I can get a pic of the inner flange tomorrow. Cheers
  11. Hey, Am trying to find two rear inner drive flanges from the above car/s. Its part #5 in the link. Looks quite different than the one pictured but you'll get the idea. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=DC89-JAP-08-1986-E28-BMW-M535i&diagId=33_0175 Thanks!
  12. Thanks but I was after a large case that I ended up finding in auckalnd. Win! Thanks all
  13. Still looking... Come ooooon Bimmersport!
  14. Hi all, I'm trying to find the following diff in LSD. I think there out of the E23, E24 and E28? Am finding it hard to find info on the net. Its a large case/8 bolt/210mm. I THINK its part number is 33111210410 but on realoem.com this shows a 6 bolt. Not sure if realoem has the wrong drawing or not. Any info on where to get one would be greatly appreciated! Steve
  15. Hi, Im looking for the rear hub and inner flange off an E28. I need it to see if i can use them for my E36 compact so would take any condition at this stage. Parts 1 and 5 in the link below. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=4062-EUR-09_1982_E28_BMW_520i&diagId=33_0170#33411129859 Thanks, Steve
  16. Good timing then! The hardest part is the wiring and I'm glad I opted to get a wiring harness pre-made. I couldn't have done it by myself in the time that I had. There's plenty of info out there on how to do it tho. Update: The speed input into the ECU was deleted so didn't have to worry about it. The problems Gavin from Hi Velocity and myself worked through were: Tthe fuel pump I was supplied was loosing pressure and flow at high rpms. Pressure was dropping to about 4 bar. Its supposed to be 5. The flow was also dying off up top so we sourced one locally, tested it and it had plenty of flow and pressure. The cam sensor on the exhaust side was buggered so replaced that. My brand new MAF sensor was faulty so used a second hand one. The biggest thing that took ages to find was that the air straighter on the intake was missing. If you don't know what it is its a honey comb looking crisis cross about 10 mm thick that sits in the intake and its designed to straighten the air so the MAF sensor can read in incoming air properly. I had an intake from AFE as I didnt have the stock airbox. Its a total crap design from afe.... As soon as we put one in it made another 25-30 hp... and they claim it makes power! Pffft I ended up with between 275-280 HP at rear wheels and the next step is alpha N tune that will ditch the MAF sensor all together. From what I under stand Its what the CSL cars ran Also broke an axle playing silly buggers in the last stage.... but it didn't effect any placings so learn t something new
  17. Thanks guys, Never waste a crowd... I was worried about my tyres not lasting so I have to admit I left a few good corners with disappointed people. Not ideal haha. The S54 is great. The car didn't under-steer like I thought it might and it proved to be very quick in the tight twisty roads so I'm absolutely stoked with it. But its like anything, as soon as you got used to the extra power you wanted more! There are a few small tv clips, heres one but its right at the end. The first skid I hang my head in shame as its pretty lame lol http://www.3news.co.nz/sport/inkster-unfazed-by-klinks-new-targa-ride-2015102918#axzz3qSzNQD3l
  18. Hi all, Well Ive just come back form a successful week of racing over 1000kms over the week that is Targa NZ and Its the longest rally of its kind in the world. Between my wider family we had 5 entries of 4 BMWs (2 E30 M3's one E30 325 and my compact) and one Subaru wrx comming from Australia. The compact Finished 4th overall out of 60 something cars, my brother Carl finished 3rd in classics, My old man in the M3 had engine issues relating to oil consumption and the other M3 had a major engine mechanical problem resulting in bits of piston littering the road! Just wanted to say thanks to Ray from HellBM for his help leading up to the event, loaning my parts to hget the engine running and the offer for a new P/S pump during the event. Hes a good bugger! Kayne Barrie from Kayne Barrie Motorsport for also helping out with the power steering issue and the loan of parts. He was up out of bed until 1am on Monday helping us out. Another good bugger! Gavin Bellers from Hi Velocity for his work with the new S54 transplant, he worked through multiple problems and we've ended up with a good package fore the event. sh*t it was a long week, glad its over but man it was fun!
  19. So, after getting a relay from Ray, getting oil pressure and putting the plugs back in.... It started on what sounded like the first rotation! Was so stoked! Have since been to the dyno and its only making between 230 and 240 Hp. The power is flattening off after 5500rpm so have booked the car in at Jerry Clayton's to get the Vanos and fuel pressure checked... Other than that, the car already feels strong so fingers crossed its just the Vanos unit.
  20. Thanks for all the replies and offers where you can. This is one of many awesome things about bimmersport, I find someone is always willing to lend a hand or advice when needed. I got my hands on a relay thanks to Ray at HellBM so big thank you goes out to him.
  21. It's a good point, I didn't try pelican. 5-7 days isn't bad but then it has to go through customs and then it will sit for another day at the post office as I live in a rural area. Was hoping to find one sooner than that.
  22. Haha, well thank you anyway. Good new tho!! Ray found one! He's the man
  23. Polley is correct, from what I understand it adjusts the voltage to the pump at idle and under 20% throttle. It's an emitions thing. You would think Kassel would have been able to do it but I suppose there catered for the American market.
  24. Hi all. I'm in a tight spot and I'm hoping a nice M5 owner maybe able to help me out! I would very much like to get my hands on one of your fuel pump relays. BMW call it the EPK module. I have a brand new one coming from BMW Germany but its two weeks away. Its the last piece of the puzzle before I can run my new engine (S54 in an E36) and i need to get some laps in before the Targa rally. If there's any one willing to give/loan there second hand one to me I would be happy to resupply them with the brand new one when it arrives. This is it below and its located in the boot behind the interior on the right hand side just above the battery. I believe it should be M5's from the year 2000 on... That or a E36 Z3 Part number: 61357892976 If you can help... You. Are. Amazing! thanks, Steve
