Hey people, What would you say a good condition E36 compact with a manual M52B28 would fetch? I may end up with a spare engine and compact body...I'm considering putting the two together with the aim of selling it on. I think it'd be worth more in a running compact than separately.... Any one seen one for sale? Cheers, Steve

Not sure in regards to power, I reckon concentrate on getting it down to min weight. You'll be quicker every where, the straights, corners and braking. The way I see it power only gets you one of those?

Hah! Don't be sorry man. I'm happy with the event, checking the crank pulley bolt wasn't something I would have ever thought of checking so I'm not beating myself up... Learn something new every time. My aim for the event was to surprise a few people and get a top three stage time, just scraped through with that one even tho we almost came to a stand still to check my brother was OK! That's why I'm happy Finishing in a newly built car with no issues is a credit to your build. Bring on next year!

Ive driven one of these... So much torque its unreal.

Ive probably used them half a dozen times and never had a bad experience with them, Mind you its always been through there web site not eBay. Ive just ordered a couple more things so will see how it goes!

Got the wheels powder coated in "telecom green" but I Kind of want to keep the graphics to my self until the start of the event haha. Should have masked the mating surface before they were painted. Probably took an hour to clean them up. Silly lol

Front sump guard pick up point, Can also be used as a jacking point Foot brace

So the Targa has almost rolled around and Ive made a few updates so though id share them. The cars pretty much the same as last year but Ive managed to finish off a few things I didn't get time to do last year. These include: -Longer sump guard with a front pick up point that will now help protect the radiator - Co drivers foot brace with horn/trip computer reset buttons. - Awesome new graphic design, powder coated wheels, tints etc - E36 M3 headers (now making 173 HP.... down from 182HP at wheels haha but on a different dyno so hard to tell the true difference) - Have done maintenance things like replaced bottom arms, all oils and fluids, rear wheel bearings etc - a few other bits and pieces mainly aimed at stopping my uncanny ability to spin out.

Yeah that's an awesome price! My air cons long gone, your going to be living the dream in that car haha. Great to hear it went well, Ill be stoked to see another E36 on the start line as im sure you will be too!

The closer Targa gets the more excited I'm getting to seeing this run!

did you drop it of at their depo or at the airport? It looks like their depo is about 2.5km from the airport.

I was a mechanic for ten years, I advise you not to buy the super expensive stuff. You don't need it if your not on the tools for a crust. If I were you if go and buy a set with tool box and draws with the foam inserts. I never had these as they take up too much room but It's easy to see if you've misplaced anything at the end of the day. A real money saver if you've lost tools in the past. Find a friend who has an account with Repco or BNT I find there both good brands and will be plenty good enough for what your after. They sell a sh*t ton of different kitsets. Get your mate a bottle of something for there troubles. Most people are happy to help out. If you want a list of tools or me to suggest a kit send me a pm and I'll have a closer look. Just a couple more notes: Go for single hex sockets, you can put more torque through them with out having to worry about rounding the head off. If you want to spend some money on somthing... get a snap-on ratchet, there increadably fine an worth the money. Make sure you have a good 1/4 socket set, deep and normal sockets. Out of all my tools I have (I have lots) I use a simple BNT set with snap-on ratchet the most. Hope that helped.
