I bought it from Gavin, maybe it was $100 for both itemsYou can buy those headgaskets new from Gavin for about $70.
-
Thanks for that, any idea on the head gasket? Cost $100+ from memory^ I just brought a pair of brand new exhaust manifold gaskets, identical to your ones above, same brand etc, for $30NZ not including shipping from Pelican Parts, except they were for a 325i.

What's the price on one of these Glenn? I have the same problem as Wom.I can get a genuine (new) motor if you need one cheaper than the dealers

Long story short:
At the beginning of this month I bought an E36 M325i from an Auction Centre subject to a mechanical inspection (arranged by the dealer). The inspection done showed minor problems and I was satisfied that it was repairable through a good service so I paid the money and took the car.
After dropping the vehicle with Glenn it became apparent that the car wasn't in very good condition at all! Evidence pointed towards the engine being overheated as well as numerous other things that would fail a warrant.
Glenn basically said the car wasn't worth servicing as it would most probably give huge problems later on which would be very costly $$$. Not exactly the news I wanted to hear but I agreed.
It is at this point that I'd like to give Glenn and his team a massive thanks for going well out of their way to help me. I will be forever grateful.
Glenn put me in touch with a P.I. who instructed me on how to go about getting my money back. It turned out to be a stressful 2-week task but fortunately, in the end, a successful one. I would like to go into specifics but think it would be better if I didn't.
Here are some pics of the car:
I have since bought a E36 318is that I got Glenn to inspect before purchasing which I'm very happy with.
Thanks again to Glenn & team @ Botany Motor Worx!
Hope you all have a wonderful New Year, I look forward to seeing you in 2010!

I miss it already.I was driving north along the motorway from town over the bridge to the shore last night around 6.20pm and was playing cat and mouse with a mint looking white E30 with a full ACS kit.
It was lowered on some really nice 17s I think and sounded fantastic. We were nailing it across the bridge, was good fun. Anyone's on here?
Number plate was something like F_B_ _ _

On Sunday I noticed that my reverse gear was playing up, it didn't immediately go into the reverse when I changed gear. I had to go back into neutral then into reverse for it to grab. That was fine.
Now yesterday when I went to leave work I pulled into a drive-way to do a three-point turn and reversed out no problem, reverse gear went in first go. Again, this was fine.
Now..
When I got home I pulled into my drive-way as I normally do and then decided to reverse out and back the car in so it would be easier to leave for work in the morning. So, I proceed to change into reverse but the gear doesn't grab. So I proceed to do what I did on Sunday, change into neutral and then back into reverse. Still no luck. After several attempts to get it to go I concluded I had somehow lost my reverse transmission.
I checked my transmission fluid and noticed it that it was epically low. (is there a warning light for this??)
I figured that must be the reason it wasn't working so I bought some ATF and topped it up.
Still no luck.
The thing I don't understand is that all other gears work fine.
Do I need a new transmission? Where is the best place to get this done? (this is way beyond me).
I'm in Auckland.
TIA
Cliff
