Sounds like a stupid answer but have you considered a wheel alignment? It could be possible it's due or you have quite a bit of inner tyre wear. It's always good to eliminate the basics before going straight to something like a steering rack.

Does anyone know how much the Alpine CDA-983x and 985x are price wise. I have looked at the Alpine site and there are a few different models with very similar design. ( has a really cool 3D interactive demo on the head units )Cheers.

S = Sports Mode E = Economy M = Manual Was the above mode avaliable on all E36 auto models or was it a factory option? My E36 328i is on a boat right now and I was wondering if it has the above modes.

Phatbema or anyone alse who has colour matched their skirts and bumpers, how much did it cost to do? This is on my to do list aswell.Why do some E36' come with painted and non painted skirts and bumpers, was it a factory option depending on what you wanted to pay. I thought it was on the pre 1996 models but I have seen all years painted and unpainted. I geuss alot of people would have painted them after purchase.

Last stupid question. The orange bulbs would have to clip into the light hole, would there be a specific parts number?, and where could I go to get some, would it be a bmw workshop, auto electrician or maybe repco? Might have a look today, thanks again for the help.

I am sorry for using the Evo term, what model E36 are the lights off?, I am new to BMW's and have only picked up on the terms from past posts on this forum regarding these lights. I think it would be a good idea to redo the seals, thank you for the reply. Can anyone help with the indicator problem?

I have just purchase a set of the evo/Euro rear tail lights( red base with clear top ) for my E36, they come with a plug for the electrics sensor. Just wondering if anyone has installed these before and if so is it quite easy? One concearn is that I see upper lightsare clear, if I put the factory bulb into the Evo light slot won't this make my indicators clear. This would be illegal I think or at least not very visible in day time. What do I do and how do the factory Evo lights work, my set is not genuine. Thank you

A question for the Wellington members who have their cars serviced by a bmw or local mechanic in Wellington area. Just wondering where is a good place to take my E36 328i for a service, I would like to follow the correct service procedures which include the oil, service 1 and service 2. I have had a really good look through the past posts but most topics only cover the Auckland service garages. I don't mind spending a wee bit of money as would like to go to a well know garage but at the same time not be over charged for labour which I imagine Shelley BMW do. Can someone also throw a rough figure at the prices for a service 1 and service 2. From reading through the posts some people have metioned from $400.00, $500.00 and $800.00 for a service 2. Thanks again.

Thanks guys, I was very confused by the sounds of it. So basically a oil serivce falls due around 10,000k, next 10k you will have a service 1 due, next 10k back to oil service, last 10k service 2. After this the cycle starts over again.

Hi guys New member to the forum, however have been reading through the topics for the last few months doing a bit of research prior to the purchase of my E36 328i. Just wondering how often you guys service your bmw, for example every 5-10,000k's and when you do subject to repairs what is a rough inidication of a service price from a reliable mechanic. I am a wee bit confused about the service step requirements for the E36. I have read about a 5 step service process or something which appears on the onboard computer ( not sure if my bmw falls into this areas as it's still in japan). I think it warns you that say step 2 is due which will mean specific things should be replaced or looked at to maintain the reliabilty and life of the car. Is this true? Would I be better of buying a service manual which will cover such questions as I sure have a few....
