    E36 Windows

Passenger side and now drivers side windows have decided to pack up. Glass, motor, and controls look to be fine (still whirring, moving, etc...)' However, the white clips are cracked (got some replacements) and the arms are slightly bent. I cant fix them myself - does anyone know a good person to get to do this job? (I'm in Wellington) Cheers, Joe
  2. yessss! The Angel Eyes now work - on 0.5 and level 1.0 (Full beam still cranks.) And, replacing the 10amp fuse worked to get the instrument cluster lights working again. Very stoked. It had been 5th form since i held a multimeter - turns out I didnt use it all that much! One last gripe is the alarm use - when I click it, just the LH side lights activate. I can live with this in the interim, but I'm all ears to hear of any suggestions?? Thanks -

    Lights look gay

Nah those are the ones that you have in at the moment = 'crystal' Check out the post above this - the pic there has the Clear ones in yo. I have just installed Angel Eyes in mine - so I have some Clears spare. How you feel about $30 + pp for them both? (Make your car straight again)
  4. Cheers guys - still working on it... I dont even know where the fuses are exactly either... The Angel Eyes are the whole assemblies, not just the bulbs. No instructions in the Angel Eyes box unfortunately.
  5. Kia ora, An Angel Eye install on my 316 has seen me splice wires together to get the things working (cracked glass cover on LH side makes me overhaul the whole lot!) Anyway, the LH Angel Eye is installed and working. The Drivers side is trickier and has caused the following symptoms... - No response from eye when locking car, door opened etc (as LH side works in that respect) - !!! My Instrument lights are not going! (Speedo backlight, etc...) - My RH rear brakelight is out also - RH lights work when on Level 2, but not the Level 1 when the eye should show. (But RH angel eye works when on Full Beam - whats with that?) I've got a dual Green wire which I think is the instrument one - but I cant see where that plugs in at all - (and this is my main concern) Appreciate that you have read this far - and any suggestions welcomed. Ta, Joe
  6. Cool - so - get the switch done, do the bleed, and get good coolant. (Phosphate free for Euros...)
  7. have recently had the thermostat replaced on the car, due to the mech not finding any apparent damage to radiator or gaskets through the pressure tests etc... apprently the fan is not operating as it should at 3/4 temp, perhaps due to a switch that has broken. One dumb thing I did last week was to unscrew the radiator cap, when it was in the red zone. Pschh! scalped my right forarm of a couple of layers of summer tanned skin while it gysered out hot coolant freaking everywhere - then a bus pulled in beside me, by this stage I am soaking wet and stinging...dont worry, I got a hose and doused everything. So, back to the action: My coolant mix is low at the moment, 10/90 mix (should be 50:50 I guess), that may be contributing to the temp volatility, but if any one has any tips or ideas that'd be much appreciated.
  8. A Belated addition to the thread: THE RESULT! So, the car was overheating. Car was towed to Powerhaus , saw them on the Monday, gave John the symptoms, and received a call later that day with the diagnosis! a $1950 bill! For a "radiator core replacement". - an in-dash job. $700 in parts, $1200 in labour. The A/C was the thing in question. I asked him to just bypass it - as I'd get it fixed etc before winter. Anyhow, luckily later that day, John called back and said that the repair was actually a mis-diagnosis by one of his mechanics, and a faulty/corroded coolant valve/head behind the engine was to blame. Replaced and running fine now. (for ~$120) a 1/10 of the orginal diagnosis!! Lucky... Any thoughts?
  9. that NZer of the year (Steph Wright, ASB securities-see posts prev) cracks me up! EML is classic!
  10. dudes, shes been expensive so far, but I cant wait to get it back from the shop!
  11. cool - loving the advice, hints and stuff. (learning curve!) thank you all. I hope that it'll just be that hose playing up - will post on the diagnosis Monday! King Kong is great BTW! :thumb:
  12. Car: E36 316ti Had a drivers side impact recently, and haven't driven the car while it was pranged up. Today, on its first wee drive since the prang, the engine cooked up into the red area. Under the bonnet I could see liquid/steam, with flecks of liquid coming out a bit, around the top of the engine bay. Had to get towed in the end! Am I right in presuming this is a head gasket problem/coolant line problem? (like http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=4893) Was likey to have been damaged in the impact the car took, although the bonnet panel is fine/unharmed. Impact centered aroung the wheel area. (I have had terrible luck recently!) Looking to get the engine problem fixed at Powerhaus (a good choice?) Anyway - hoping you could help advise on the problem.
