  2. Hi.I need help LOL........ I have a 1996 318 e36 and am wanting to put a Dinan chip in it.Everyone recons they increase HP etc so Im willing to give it a go.However reading instructions on how to go about ordering it is slightly confusing given what infos available. I have gone into the "housing" where the ECU is housed.Theres two of them? One up top and one below. The one on top has a number which goes something like 261 203 661.The one on the top has a number like 260 002 362.I think one of these units houses the chip, but which one the top or bottom ??? Any help is appreated. Greg
  3. Whats up with this happening.Mechanic was tightening the cam and it snapped in half? Is this a common thing to happen. Can you replace just the one or both have to be done. (second hand ones) Any advice would really be appricated Greg

    engine wiring

1996 318i-Wonder if anyone can help.I am putting the engine back together after replacing the headgasket.Alls fine apart from the fact I have one connector that I cant find a home for.Its one that comes out of the plastic box that bolts on the inlet manifold. It has three connectors, two go to the inlet manifold and the other is a mystery?.It is a two wire connection.Anyone able to help me find a home for it? Its so cramped and dark to actually see and this way I might save some skin. Thanks Greg
  5. Can anyone help me please.I have almost removed the head off the block but cant get the wiring box out from in between the inlet manifold?? Do i need to seperate the manifold apart, or is there a simple way of getting it out of the hole? thanks Greg
  6. Anyone know where I can download a service manual for a 1996 e36 318 (1800), can fid most others but not this one. Greg
  7. Thanks guys....Any other quirks I should be wary of?? I did my apprenticeship on holdens a few years back ) , things are a bit different under the hood these days…
  8. I have to replace the headgasket and am reasonably confident that I can do this myself. Is there anything that I should be wary of??? Also-I notice the headstuds are star, what size are these as I will need to get a socket to fit. Any help would be great Thanks Greg
