320I Auto

30 km a Day and usually 450 Km by the end of the week inbetween other things

Costs me about $85 of 95 octane each week

Driving at the open road speeds, I get 9.5-10 l/100km.

Around town, it can be 14-15 l/100km.

Deb usually gets 11-12.5 l/100km per month, mostly round town driving. She hardly sees a motorway.

Manual M60.

I do believe the original question is asking about the 540 V8.

Can somone who drives one who similar tell me what they pay with todays petrols rates?

I get 10.5L/100km on a long trip Auckland to Rotorua

Around town in heavy traffic, no motorways, I'll get about 18 to 20L/100km

A mix of a bit of motorway and around town, I get around 14 to 15L/100km

That's for a 1997 E39 540i with the M62 engine

Do the maths to get the $ value at whatever the pump prices are today

I do believe the original question is asking about the 540 V8.

I relate better to the old mpg measurement (showing my age)

E39 540, just about all town running (Chch) my last fill was after 402km, 62.4 litres of BP Ultimate or $98, which is about 17.7mpg or 15.3 litres /100 km

I usually get between 17 - 18mpg per fill, 13mpg if a little naughty or a fellow director has borrowed it for a day .... I must get him to top it up on his account.

E39 540, mostly town driving we're averaging 12.5-15 ltr/100km (depends if Vicki or myself driving, I tend to be a bit abusive :D ) open road gets down to around 11.5.

In saying that I've had the 18+ but it was fun...

cheers Matt

E39 540

$40-$45 a week traveling approx 20 odd K's a day.

OBC shows around 6.8 km per litre in city driving and 10.5 km per litre in highway.

As an aside, do all you other 540 owners use standard 91 or premium unleaded 95 or 98 (eg BP Ultimate)?

I use 98 when I can as I am led to believe it is cleaner burning and thus gives better fuel economy. The extra $ gives extra kms for the same litres used.

Your thoughts appreciated

Mike

So your getting about 450kms every 70 litres around the city, does this include the bumper to bumper 8am going to work?

By not using the car on weekends, do you onlt fill up once every 2 weeks?

(sorry fellas for the questions, it has been 10 years since I owned a V8 and petrol aint the same price anymore)

There are obviously advantages to having a manual 6 speed. Deb gets at least 550km on a tank of petrol around Glendowie/St Heliers.

1000rpm in 6th is 60km/h, so you can idle down Tamaki drive in top gear and still break the speed limit. In rush hour, she leaves it in first and it keeps up with traffic.

But it is around $120 per fill off memory.

For perspective. It is much better performance and economy than my 1.5 year old company Falcon.

Yes, around 450kms per 70 litres, I'm in Hamilton, and nose to nose traffic is not as bad as in Auckland during peak hours. I only get nose to nose traffic in the morning as I finishes work late, so I don't get the 5pm - 5:30pm, traffic.

I fill up every week, $40-$45 .

If I have to use the car on the weekends like shopping , then it will be like $50 -$55 a week.
