bumpstop325 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Early on Saturday a man died when he lost control of his car in bad weather, following an abandoned police chase in New Plymouth. Michael James Ellicock, 21, was driving a BMW 730I saloon which careered through a fence and crossed a stream before crashing into a tree on St Aubyn St at about 12.30am. Mr Ellicock's car was chased by police after he failed to stop following a minor accident. The chase lasted one minute before it was abandoned because of the speed of the fleeing car and the weather conditions. A short time later Mr Ellicock crashed, and police were alerted by a member of the public. The car had burst into flames and Mr Ellicock, who was alone in the car, was found dead at the scene. His body was so badly burnt police called in fingerprint experts to identify him. Mr Ellicock had recently moved to New Plymouth from Auckland, the Herald on Sunday reported. After this article showed, the news reporter quoted that police were attending more high speed crashes involving bmw's and that they are becoming popular with younger performance car enthusiasts. So will we have more of a chance of being pulled over because of these dicks? One thing for sure, that these stupid idiots have taking this long to cotton on to the fact that bmw are just as fast or faster than the japanese stable mates?
