*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted May 31, 2007 A number of us in the industry have come accross this problem on mainly older cars, but do include E36 & E39 I also understand that it is a problem with Rover/BMW powered vehicles as well. Stray current caused by electrical components and additional wiring ie: wiring looms for amps may cause damage to the aluminium radiators in these vehicles. Radiator cores are insulated ( no earthed ) by the plastic end tanks. When installing new or even with existing radiators, it is prudent to fit an earth strap buy means of a speed clip and screw to the aluminium bracket on the top of the radiator to the earth pole on the L/H inner guard and only use BMW Coolant. We can supply this coolant for $15 per 1.5 litre bottle, incl GST. We are doing this on every radiator replacement. Cheers Glenn
