Removing and replacing roof lining in E36

Hey anyone got any tips or tricks on removing and replacing roof lining in E36?

Take it to an upholsterer.

Me and a mate of mine spent a whole day ripping out and replacing the hoodlining in his E36 318is and it came out average,but was such a niggly job.

Work the whole day and use the money to pay an upholsterer!

Anyone else successfully done it themselves? -I'm more of a DIY person and I'd like to at least get this one done.

been there done that , took my about an hour to do my coupe with sunroof .

have to remove front seats in a sedan i think ..

pretty easy just takes time , fits through front doors .

just screws, rubber trims and caps nothing complex

I've done it myself.

Removing is easier than getting a skinny White man to leave Harlem...

pull out Rubber seals, then the A, B, C pillars, pull out Sunshades and center light ( I didn't have a sunroof)

You need an extra person to help fit it in, and some smarts to get it inside the door.

Would be easy if you pull the front seats out...but I did it with all seats still in (used tha rear door, with seats back flat/or folded forward....can't remember).

Careful you don't break tha plastic interior....like I did....it's not very strong!!

And watch out you don't get dirty fingerprints on tha headliner when you are popping the new one in!!

hey its pretty easy to do your self, ive done it twice (used the wrong glue the first time) did it by my self in a coupe, you have to wiggle it out the passenger door, ive heard its quite a mission in a sedan, theres a tech article on this site for the run down just dont use the glue it states in there as its not heat resistant, (someone should really change it) use Selleys Kwik Grip instead and use plenty of it.
