crap dim lights

hey my e30 has always had really crap dim lights...i have tried afew different bulbs and cleaning the glass...but they didnt help much.

what bulbs do you guys and girls use?

or any other ways to much them better with failing a wof.

You mean they are dimmer than other E30s that have the same standard bulbs, and same headlights? If so, then it must be your wiring. Perhaps it isn't getting sufficient wattage.

I have never actually compared them to another e30....are they all crap...cos with them on dim i can see about 20 metres of the road in front...which i assumed would be crap and just me.

i might have to trace the wiring. cheers.

Yeah mine are real dim too makes driving on a open highway difficult its better off driving with no lights on...

I think most are crap (well from the e30's iv owned anyway).

From your ride (1990 320) it will have projection lamps for low beam. When you say you have cleaned the glass - do you mean inside or outside?

These lamps are notorius for a smokey discolouration build up on the inside of the glass & on the projector lens itself which causes at marked deterioration of light output.

They can look ok but but once cleaned - makes a big improvement.

To clean:

Remove the lamp & dismantle from the back to gain access. Use clean cloth to clean both projector lens & inside of glass.

If properly clean & with good reflector these lamps work well.

Also headlight alighnment is critical.
