Info on old BMW's

I just tried that Vin Decoder and got the following...

I was wondering if this info is correct? as Its a Jap Import BMW, i was told that the transmission is some Japanese type.

Are Jap Import E36's assembled in Germany? thanks.

Bump it up.. I have the same transmission: A5S 310Z, and would like to know if it is a jatco box or not?

Cars that went to the Jap market had to follow certain regulations. I can't remember the exact percentage but say 40% had to come from local Jap manufacturers. The cars went to Japan partly assembled and were finished there. So the auto box's were made in Japan.

Any auto e36 imported from Japan has jap spec's so no it would be a Jatco
