Andrew 30 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 BMW’s CEO, Norbert Reithofer, will be laying out his new strategy in mid-October with a new 10-year plan. Reithofer’s primary objective is sustainable, profitable growth. As BMW faces increasing competition from Audi, Lexus, Infiniti and Mercedes, along with strict CO2 regulations, the new strategy is expected to be more than just a five-year strategy. “It makes sense that every five to six years that we reconsider our strategy,†he told Automobilwoche in an interview. Reithofer says that he is open to joint ventures with rival auto makers in order reduce investment costs. BMW has previously said that it is considering partnering with rival DaimlerChrysler to build a small engine. According to Reithofer, BMW may also look into a new line of business such as selling engines and other components. Reithofer is expected to give a timeline on the development of the BMW X6 as well as hybrid plans based around the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid which it unveiled at Frankfurt.
