SandMan 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 OK, here's the problem, the car starts and run well, it doesn't have much power, but that's a 320i for you. when it idles it seams to keep hunting, like I ,mean it changes from 500-rpm and goes up to 1000-rpm and back again every few seconds.. almost like it has a manifold leak? Any ideas?
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 If its motronic....try another idle valve or clean out your old one with carb cleaner If its MEII.....check the cold start air slide under the manifold You would also need to check the TPI switch Thats all after you have checked for air leaks Idle fuel mixture might be too rich as well Should be 2% Co at idle + or - .5% with about 150-200 Hc ( with our super fuel) The book says 1% = or - .5%....thats a little too lean tho You need to set at the lowest Hc where it idles the smoothest You might need an auto tech to do this tho Air flow meter could also be sticking on the sliding vane or spring tension may need to be altered.... these are getting old now Cheers Glenn

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Ooops.. I forgot about this too ( its been a while ) If its running a Kat ( fit a dog ) Then disconnect sensor and either recode DME to NZ spec non Kat or get another DME ( which ever is the cheapest ) has to be non Kat tho Idle surging was a problem with these...especially 325's Cheers Glenn
