ABS light on

Recommended Posts

Hi all, advice please. The ABS light has now come on and stayed on twice now. Orange light, so not urgent, but - is this common? What is likely to be the issue??

Thanks

Ray, any other lights (ie: ASC) or other symptoms? Best option is to get a shop to read the codes to find out then go from there.

It could be the crash sensor under the passenger seat thats gone or more likely the sensor in the seat itself that tells the computer that someone is sitting in the seat. They are well known to have 'contact' problems so you may need to check that out aswell.

Do a google, its quite a common problem.

Ray, Penry's right with the common faults but as Yuen said - get it checked on a scanner otherwise you are only guessing - will save a lot of grief

Just hope its a bad sensor. They are easy to replace and cheap. $34+gst for the front and $38+gst for the rear for genuine parts. Who said BMW parts were expensive, its just that Toyotas wouldn't crap themselves at 76km like our BMW. lol

If you can check your sensors with a multimeter they should be ideally somewhere around 1k resistance.
