Brake Upgrades

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, my pads are almost gone and I was thinking instead of some replacing em' with the normal ones that I should spend some extra bling and get decent ones. I will probably replace the rotors as well. Anyone got suggestions? What are you guys running?

Guest Andrew

For a 318i - use the stock brakes.. the 4 disc setup stops pretty well when its all nice and setup properly.

Thanks but I've had a look at that. I was just looking for any pads or rotors that people have had good (or bad) experiences with.

With bimmers its usually good to use stock pads if you got stock rotors, otherwise you get baaad brake squeal.. (on e36 anyway)..

Just finnished setting up the race car, 323i e30. Rolled it targa last year. Went to possum bourne Motorsport to get a set up to make the best package for club sport use.

we used Brembo rotors and metal king pads. no squeal. ran this car in sprint series at manfield last year then targa. pads now half worn and rotors still like new.

cost not much more than stocks and are incredible. Also use valvoline race brake fluid, higher temp and better feel when HOT. expensive at 30.00 for 500ml but worth the money.

New to this site but enjoying.

are you still using the stock calipers? does the race series rules mean you must use the stock calipers? are the brembo rotors slotted and the same size and original?

Hi welcome to the site, I'm pretty new as well. Thats the sort of info I was after. I was think about the brembo rotors but am undecided on pads. I've got motul fluid to put in which hopefully will be good. While you only use your car for competition I use it everyday so I need something with reasonable life, still your set up is holding up well. And that was all purchased through PBMS?
