We are pretty surprised that BMW’S CEO, Norbert Riethfor, didn’t mention anything about an X6 hybrid yesterday during the press conference but according to Automotive News, BMW’s first full-hybrid vehicle will be the X6 and it will go into production very soon.

The BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid, which originally made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, was shining on the floor of Detroit yesterday. That concept was developed by GM in partnerships with DaimlerChrysler and GM the hybrid system combines two compact, high-performance electric motors.

According to the head of sales and marketing, Stefan Karuse, an X6 hybrid will go on sale in Europe in 2009. Unfortunately, Krause didn’t say anything about the X6 hybrid going on sale in the U.S. “The launch date will be next year, although the exact timing is not yet fixed,” Krause said.
