antony 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Will this work with an E30? link. Going out on a limb here, as I will probably be in a bidding war if it will Thanks Antony.
Greg111 13 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 If i read correctly which not too sure if i am but the description said for Hall trigger setup which i don't think E30s or any BMW use in that fact?
Mike 1 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 yip, how easily will depend on what circuits have been built into it and what trigger you want to use. If your currently motronic I think you will have a VR sensor. This is on a different circuit to the hall sensors. If its been built with the VR circuit its just a couple of jumpers to swap it over, otherwise it could be difficult finding the right components in NZ. DIYautotune will sell you bit for very reasonable prices and shipping though. Its $240NZ + shipping for the kit, its easy to build and you do learn quite a bit doing it, makes much more sense. I haven't had too much trouble yet but I can see how it could frustrate the hell out of some people. You really have to take your time reading up on it. There are plenty of maps out there for the M20 now, find a known good one and you could probably even get away without a wideband sensor. I'd just do a dyno run to check out the A/F ratios. antony 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 I didn't realise the kits were that cheap. I am certainly interested in doing all the reading, wiring, etc. to build it. But have no idea about megasquirt atm tho. Will have to get an engine in my car worthy of a stand alone first tho .
E30BMA 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Ive seen these Mega squirt ECUs being used on a few Mazdas with big sucesses. You can buy all the sensors/trigger wheels etc of the DIYAutotune website, but there would be a bit of fabrication work for you to do in terms of spacers/mountings etc for the sensors and trigger wheels.
