Jaguar and Land Rover sold to India

Recommended Posts

Car giant Ford has agreed to sell its UK-based luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover to India's Tata motors.

The deal is worth two point three billion US dollars.

Tata Motors is India's top bus and truck maker.

Under the agreement, Ford will contribute up to about 600 million dollars to the Jaguar/Land Rover employees' pension plans.

Now watch the quality go down big time.

What R&D skills/resorces do Tata Motors have I wonder & what are they prepared to throw at the two marques? Not much I suspect. I would hardly think them inovative:-

What quality Jaguar and Land rover were always badly designed and built

The only decent Land/ Range Rovers were the ones with BMW engineering and current jaguars are a hacked about ford platform with a ford motor.

TATA might be able to make something of them

Maybe, but Jag were arguably better under Ford than previous British Leyland etc during 70's & 80's.

Agreed BMW got the LR's, RR's up to speed & they have probably slid somewhat since - although I dont know to judge on this.

Cant say I share enthusiasim for Tata though
