fuel system problem

hey there ppl i need some information inquiring into the fuel system of a 1982 E28 520i, this problem has just started to happen today.

after refueling the car this morning the car started to splutter and started to lose power up a hill and carried on like this all the way home.

i am not too sure what the problem is so could anyone give me an idea or diagnose the problem for me please

Problem could be crap/contamination/water in fuel, you could try changing filter but unless you are familiar/aware of what you are doing - then probably best to get proffesionally checked - otherwise you will be chasing your tail.

Hotwire sounds on the money to me. Only time I have had anything like that is when some crap (rust, water etc) got into the carb. Could be from you running the tank really low (or the gas station running their tanks really low), or could be the new fuel you put in was contaminated like at that gas station in Tauranga mixing diesel + petrol a couple of weeks back.

does anyone know of any good mechanics in the west Auckland area that i could take my bmw to get the fuel filter changed and maybe the pump a look at as well?????

i have no knowledge of this type of mechanical instincts in me

Try BM Workshop in Grey Lynn. Not exactly west Auckland I know, but they are a BMW specialist....

hey there ppl i say that i have problems with the car but now it doesn't want to kick over it feels as if there is no fuel going to to the fuel injection unit to actually kick the car over

what can the problem be?????

If it's cranking but not starting it's most likely the fuel pump. Get it towed to a garage and have them do some diagnostic tests. If you've got roadside rescue coverage sometimes that will pay for the tow to the garage... check it out first before you stump up the cash.
