Rear Subframe

Recommended Posts

hey guys

have every thing disconnected on the rear sub frame of my e30 (all bolts, and associated brake lines)

and its litterally hanging, by god knows what,

e.g. where you unbolt the 2 19mm nuts, 1 per side.

is there any thing i should know that will stop it from dropping out ?

or is it being a pain because maybe the angle ? and its catching on the thread ?

any help would be good

Ok, so you've taken the 2 big subframe nuts off, and the plates on each side which fix back to the sill, and removed the driveshaft? Chances are that it's just binding a little, chuck your jack back under the diff and take the load off it, ie jack it up until it's about level. Then just shake it all about, and try to lever the sides where the big bushes are, it should come down fairly easily if it's straight, let the jack down as the front comes down.
