e46 right front indicator fault - any ideas?

Recommended Posts

Guys - bit of an annoying problem -

The right front indicator on my e46 is playing up - sometimes it doesn't flash when inidcating, and the rear & side flash faster like the bulbs blown, it also lights up the fault warning on the dash. However I've checked the bulb and it seems fine - any ideas what it might be?

Cheers

Check the bulb wattage of the bulb and change the park light bulb (LLB501)

Or to be on the safe side change both bulbs. Its a common problem

Thanks - I'm pretty sure the indicator was a 21W - which is what its supposed to be. The park light I haven't checked - is it the same type? I'm guessing by the number above (LLB501) its different from the indicator.

Just checked the manual - looks like its a 5W.

And check the contacts in the bulb socket are clean and dry as well.

Sometimes lightbulbs make bad contact because the blob of solder on the bulbs wears away with vibration and makes bad contact. New bulb fixes that issue.
