How many fuel pumps does....

Having fuel pump issues on my e30 86 320, i also have an 89 320 parts car.

there curreently in different locations, so i was wondering if anybody knew if they had the same fuel pump setups???

No, the newer cars often had in-tank pumps. Some cars had a transfer pump aswell. You might find there are some common pumps, but as you've found out, they often differ. If the pump is of the same type, you can mix and match.

Your 86 only has one pump under floor in front of L/H rear wheel - right?

Your 89 may also have one in the same place - if so, you can use that as it is also the high pressure pump - the pick up pump (low pressure) is in the tank in that car.

If the 89 only has the one pump intank then that is a high pressure unit

yip 86 and 89 have one there, so can i just straight swap them? does the 86 only have an external pump?

also can they be fixed/cleaned?? or cheap to replace? wouldnt mind having the parts car driveable

Yep 86 should only have the one external. yes can put the 89 one in place of.

Not designed as servicable - crimped together
