greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) www.thecheappetrolproject.co.nz Sick of High Petrol Prices? Want Cheap Petrol? If you answered yes to any of these questions I can’t say I blame you. The bad news is since there’s only so much oil in the world the price of petrol will most likely keep increasing. The good news is we’re here to help make petrol cheaper. How we’re going to get you cheap petrol. We are basically organising everyone into one big buyer group. This is because as a group we have a much stronger buying power than as individuals and so are in a much better position to negotiate a cheaper rate on our petrol. Once we reach our goal of 10’000 sign-ups our collective buying power will equal about 20.5 million litres of petrol a year. But more importantly we should hit 50’000 people by the end of the year, which means an annual petrol usage of over 100 million litres. Now that’s a force to be taken seriously. So what happens next?We are currently in talks with many companies who might be able to help get us cheaper petrol. The company to provide us with the deal for the cheapest petrol with no additional costs will get our business. At this stage all we can say is that (because of our spectacular launch) there has been a lot of interest from different companies and there will definitely be a deal made, we’re just sorting out the details so sign up, sit tight and we’ll keep you updated. What can you do to help?E-mail your friends and get them to sign up, talk about us on your favourite forums or blogs or even just tell people you know about what we’re doing. We're aiming to provide you with your discount card absolutely free. To do this we need to keep costs low & that means we need you to help spread the word. I've done my part, C'mon guys sign up. Will be interesting to see what kind of discount is possible with on 10,000 people currently. Also a prize of a years free petrol...! (Drawn next May though ) Currently rumored to be 10c/L Edited July 17, 2008 by Nick021

bravo 35 Report post Posted July 18, 2008 (edited) Meh, Fleet cards are the same thing and for the same reason. Most people can get a fleet card if they ask organisations they are involved in. Many wholesalers offer their account customers fleet cards under the wholesalers name (for example Carters or J A Russell). Coastguard members can get a Caltex fleet card under the Coasguard umbrella (I have one and so does my g/f) and so on. It works on the same principle. Its not a huge discount (about 4c a litre, so similar to supermarket vouchers), but the discounts talked about on the above site won't be any better. The fuel companies can't afford to offer the average motorist a bigger discount than fleet managers of fleets with hundreds of vehicles doing thousands of miles a week. Still, if somehow it gets off the ground, I'll get one. Edited July 18, 2008 by bravo
