Trade accounts?

Recommended Posts

At my work I'm in charge of maintaining all our work vehicles, I do light repairs and bigger jobs go to a mechanic, and I often make trips to BNT or Repco or similar shops.

It would make sense if I set up a trade account with these shops since I work for a Charitable Trust so that should'nt be a problem should it?

How do I go about doing this?

Aside from mechanics etc, has anyone else setup a trade account and can offer me any advice?

Thanks

Alex.

Just as them for an account application.... They normally want guarantees from the directors etc to set an account up - so you normally need the Financial Controller or MD to finish it off. No big deal really!

Yep, just ask them. They will give you some forms to fill out. I have a company for tax reasons, and it has accounts at Placemakers, Mastertrade, Repco, BNT, AutoOne, Mitre10. I don't get any discount at Placemakers or Mitre10, but I get 20% at Mastertrade, 15-20% at AutoOne and BNT, and 10-15% at Repco. So not trade disount, but still better than a kick in the arse.

It helped that my dad's company already had accounts at all the above though as I was existing user of his accounts, so each place I'd put something on his account and then just ask the salesperson about opening my own account. As I was already using another account they didn't ask me any questions about my business trading, so they don't know it doesn't actually do anything really related to what they were selling.

Cool that sounds promising, the place I work for does not really do anything related to what their selling either (I work with people with intellectual disabilities) But we have alot of cars which need alot of maintaining and often need repairs since they are used ALOT, this wouldn't stop me from being able to open one would it? Surely as long as they get paid etc they shouldn't have a problem with it,

I was putting a lot of $ through repco at one stage & got to know all the staff quite well, eventually i asked about getting some stuff through my work account ( i had persmion from work ) and they offered me a trade card application.

Has been quite worthwhile i only get 10-15 % on stuff but its still very handy

they dont care what you use it for,the whole idea is they give you a discount in return for volume. When i worked for Placemakers they had about 6 different discount levels related to sales over a year(or projectP Edited by kiwi535
