Andrew 30 Report post Posted September 19, 2008 We’ve already heard that BMW has launched a new division called Project i that will test and develop low-emission city cars. A part of the division is going to let a lucky 480 Californians lease an all electric MINI Cooper very soon. CAR’s spy photographer recently caught an electric Mini undergoing testing outside BMW’s Munich headquarters. How did he know it was an all electric Mini? It had no exhaust pipes and the ‘Hybrid Test Vehicle’ sticker was also a bit of a giveaway. According to insiders the electric-mini will indeed meet U.S. regulations and should be on the roads by 2012. CAR says that BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer will unveil the battery Mini at the 2008 Los Angeles motor show in November. Head over to CAR for the full shots.
