Rubber Boot

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was checking the coolant levels and oil etc and noticed the rubber boot from the top of the radiator is stuffed (as in the bottom half of it is missing lol).

I'm wondering, where can I pick up a new rubber boot?

Item number 1 in this diagram ....

Is this something I could just zip down to Repco and pick up?

Or should I go visit a local BMW mechanic and get it off them?

Just go to BMW and get a new one. Its not going to cost much.

+1. That would be the easiest way.

It's to channel air to cool the alternator, seems to be common enough that they break in E36s, I guess it is due to age and heat.

Yea I'll try Jeff Gray on Tuesday.

I was kinda hoping there would be a quick solution so I could take her for a spin over the long weekend.

Its not going to stop you from driving the car. Its not an issue and wont cause you any drama... just take it off if you have concerns and buy a new one next week
