BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted December 6, 2008 Good Luck Brent...you could always fork out 7grand for gearbox alone (asked BMW on friday) haha.can get new 5spd for around $4k and 6 spd for about $5-6k .have seen 5spd on ebay.de but most of the guys cant be bothered shipping out of germany. uk prices are dearer about 1000-1200pound for 6spd ones. us about 1500usd 6spd. so realy want the germany price . dont realy need a 6spd a 5spd will do . martyyn 2 Report post Posted December 6, 2008 I think you'll find the shipping costs will be horrendous Brent. I looked at getting a body kit out of the UK last year and the cost of the packaging alone was more than the shipping.

bmwsparkle 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 brent, why not look at modifying a bellhousing of a toyota box or similar. W58s are often put behind 1uzfe toyota V8s, so would be plenty strong enough. Even a heaver duty nissan box should be up to the task. And miles cheaper than importing an unknown condition m60 gbox
Gus 5 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 i would probably go with the above, despite it being sparkles suggestion i have a 6spd evo box that I can't bring myself to pay what I paid for the box to ship it back to nz. would offer to help if i had the space - i think it just ends up being way too pricey

Gus 5 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 that sounds v cheap! where is that from?
martyyn 2 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Thats incredibly cheap. Id like to know where that price came from too.....its not the seafreight thats expensive is all the fuss they have to go to with the packing. It all has to be treated wood these days and it costs a fortune.
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 had price on a 6spd 540i one with flywheel ,clutch and gear lever mech $1800usd plus $500usd fr8 so its getting better but still quite high realy . i still like the $379euro's for a 5spd on in germany but the buggers dont reply when you ask about freighting it . even with a enlish and german (babel fish translate) questions
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 you need to get onto "shogun" on the e34 site, he has lots of contacts in germany...
Gus 5 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 to be honest I wouldn't hold out too much hope for ebay people..If someone asked me to pack something up and send it halfway across the world, I really couldn't be arsed compared to someone coming and picking it up. Also the babelfish questions won't make a lick of sense..w
