Guest Andrew Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Did it to daves car the other day - his lights were routed. The facelift lights are a lot brighter and clearer. They are a tad longer and the engine bay shroud doesn't quite fit anymore (not that you need it). I basically chopped off the old wiring connector from where it attaches to the old lights. The facelift lights have the main light low beam (Yellow,Brown) and city light (Grey, Brown) which is four wires. This is the only diff to the pre-facelift light which has 3 wires (as it has a common ground). Obviously just ground the day time runnning lights to the ground for the low beam. High beam is exactly the same. Just solder it all up. The right hand side (as if you were standing in front of the car) has 4 wires coming out of it - but if you remove some of the protective crap you'll see one of the wires isn't connected to anything and I can only assume thats were the foglights connect. All in all a worthwhile mod.
Guest Andrew Report post Posted September 14, 2004 the bulb blew in the highbeam - as you can see i just did the temp rangi electrical tape up till this weekend.

*sic 1 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Does that rust fail a WOF ?? does it look structural?... umm no.so no you dont fail.
aliluya 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Then how come my friends mini that had non-structural rust got failed ? Is LTSA just stuffing my friend around or should it not be warranted ?
Guest Andrew Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Then how come my friends mini that had non-structural rust got failed ? Is LTSA just stuffing my friend around or should it not be warranted ? generally if its bigger than a 50c coin they will fail it - those are stone chips. You can't fail a WOF for stone chips. *sic 1 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 depending on the size of the chip also!
Napier_E36 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 It all depends on where - if its right in the middle of your "critical vision zone" ie level with the top of your steering wheel and to about the level of your sun visor when its down, isnt aloud to have any chips. anywhere else it cant be bigger than a 50 cent piece. Its about the same with cracks - no bigger than 5 cm or somthing. As for rust, It can have rust, but no closer than 100mm to a structural point - like on my old ute, i had to get repairs done because it was too close to where the body mounts to the chasis. No rust around seatbelt mounts at all, and that sort of thing. Surface rust (like the surface rust developing on daves guard or the surface rust along my rear side window in my wagon) doesnt matter sh*t... Ive had 4 WOFs in a row with the surface rust and they dont bother with it because it aint going nowhere fast (im pretty sure its all bog under there anyway, its been in a huge crash somewhere along the line...Hmmm right hand rear corner damage... wonder if they were drifting hard at the time?!)
