edhardley 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 What colour is ACC power in E38 740i? Pref. somewhere up the front under the steering column etc. For hardwiring radar detector. Thanks hard wire it to wire coming to lights/ switches on roof behind rear-view mirror- easier, no need to drag wire round, straight through lining and comes out at top of windscreen (have radar hiding behind rear-view for best detection and subtle). You might have a certain need to wire it to steering colum, but thats how I did it and its perfect.

jochen 4 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 Violet on the ignition switch Pure violet is unfused. Violet with a stripe is fused. You are best to use a fused supply, eg from the radio. Or use the power feeds available in the sunroof switch area

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) Pure violet is unfused. Violet with a stripe is fused. You are best to use a fused supply, eg from the radio. Or use the power feeds available in the sunroof switch area I should have elaberated a bit more for him Jochen. On an E38 pure violet goes from the ignition switch down to the fuse box on the right hand side of the steering column, inside the small compartment in the under dash panel. You can then just pick up on any fused AC supply from there. Thats if he wants it on the R/H side. Or do what endors3series suggested Edited February 15, 2009 by *Glenn*
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 ^^ Cheers, did exactly that. Worked a treat, not really too keen on having it up by the mirror. Next, parking sensors...maybe next weekend.
diablo23 1 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 ive got parking sensors, just wondering how hard it would be to retrofit to an e38 without them

martyyn 2 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 Its not actually that hard just time consuming as you have to take the front and rear bumpers off. Ill see if I can find the instructions I used to put them into mine, but I dont have anything to scan them with A decent sparky should be able to do it in a couple of hours. Mine only charged me $150 to put them in.
