Oil breather..

Recommended Posts

Guest FrantiC

Hmm well my 2.7 build is only about 3 or 4 weeks old, where the intake manifold and AFM, TB and elbow were all clean etc.

Just today I pulled the AFM and airbox to swap the alternator and there is ALOT of oil dribbling down into the AFM from the elbow.

And lately I have had abit of blue smoke out the back when revving. I was thinking probably the head was in need in a rebuild. but now I know its more likely from all this oil residing in the intake system.

What causes too much oil?

Would guess worn valve stems and guide seals?

+1 Would have been my first guess too.

Can be caused by other things, but this is most common.

I had a look at it before I put it on and it looked fine, All the valves were nice and snug. there was one getting abit loose and was easy to turn around which worried me but I thought it was well enough to skip a rebuild for the head.

Ahh well serves me right for being a half ass.
