pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) il start from the start. my race car has been sitting for about 6 months. I got it going last week. was driving it around to run in the engine. On one night last week i was driving through makra (a rural area) lights on, sterio on, just the normal stuff. the sterio started turning on and off, so i just turned it off and left it. then i lost my high beams, about 100m down the road i lost my main beam, and then my park lights. then i tried to put window down but no power to window. About 200m further the ignition and injection system started shutting down untill the car just stopped, then i had no power to anything, dash lights were there but dim. when i tried to start in the starter motor clicked once at the best of times, towed car back home. put battery on charge (even though it was reading 14v) put my friends battery in and it made no difference. came to have a look at it today. put my battery back in and it started straight away. all lights worked. everything fine. checked altinator charging. it was charging ok. checked voltage drop on battery negative cable, engine earth strap, and to the back of the altinator, all ok. there must be a problem in there somewhere and i dont want to drive it around knowing i havent fixed it. has this happened to anyone? (sorry i forgot to mention its a 1987 e30 325i) ( Edited February 28, 2009 by sydwayz e30

hotwire 352 Report post Posted March 1, 2009 Would have to be a charging problem (maybe intermittent) otherwise a main supply or earth problem Has it got a kill switch - maybe VD across those contacts?
