caleb 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 This has me stumped and I hope it's not something stupid I can't think of right now. After driving and then turning off my car, I hear a fairly distinct ticking sound coming from under the car. The sound occurs the moment I turn off the engine and usually for a few minutes of the car being turned off Any thoughts? Again, it happens after a few minutes of turning the car off, and it does not come from the front engine area. Could this be the sound of the hot exhaust pipes contracting as they cool. deeveus 81 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Sounds like the exhaust cooling down to this kid. The S4 does it every time.
Jono51 59 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 Exhaust, ticking as it cools, probably more noticable if it is stainless
