martyyn 2 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I need to remove the front seats from an e38 on the weekend which normally would take all of ten minutes. But the driver seat doesnt have any of the plastic around the bottom of the seat and is missing the switches aswell. The seats still have power and I need to raise it to get to the bolts under the seat to take it out. So my question is can I just swap the switches from the passenger seat to raise the drivers side, or can I use the switches from the drivers seat on my e39, or is there a mechanical way of raising it? I know there is a mechanical function to the sunroof if power is lost to that so Im hoping there is the same to the seat. Otherwise does anyone know how hard it is to get under the seat to remove the bolts? Cheers Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

A little difficult...but should be able to be done..depending on the seat position...or as you said try swapping the switches... this I havent done , but worth a try. martyyn 2 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Great thanks Glenn, It looks like the seat has already been raised in the photos, Im assuming its just the standard four bolts in the corners with the airbag sensor wire to be removed. Its always nice to be able to 'lay' the back down to get it out a little easier.
