Ive seen a few for under $3000 on trade me but thought id see if anyone has anything on here I think you'd be making a mistake buying a 318 or 320. Adapting from an Rx-7 to a BMW with a small motor would be just a little bit hard. I had a e36 318i, it was a snail.

bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 Yea 318's are far too guttless and always poorly spec'd They are great for just driving around town. But in saying that I wouldnt say they are a total loss. They arnt THAT slow they just arnt as quick as the obviously bigger engined E36's. Manual would deffinatly help. But if your just using it as a run around a 318i or a 320i isnt a problem.
prawln 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 yeah its only going to be use to get my around town and just cruising really. So not to worried about power

3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) im hoping under 3k if im lucky! How about this? 318i Manual, no doubt NZ New and within your budget. Up for auction at turners in Wellington next Monday night. Needs a door trim and those ugly bumpers and side skirts colour coded but you cant be too fussy with your budget http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-213860685.htm or 325i Auto, NZ New, Leather. Slightly over your budget but im sure you could "beat them down" Wellington based. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-214252064.htm Edited April 21, 2009 by 3 SERIES

3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 legend!!! thanks heaps man! ill definatly take a look! No worries mate. I reckon go for the white 318 as its a manual plus being an auction you could get it under 3k! I always reckon its a bit pointless having "the ultimate driving machine" in an auto Itll still go well enough plus when you need that extra boost you can just jump back in the Batty Good luck, let us know how you get on. Becky 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Hey guys. I'm pretty new to the BMW market. I'm also looking for a 318i. Was wondering if you guys knew anything about them in terms of issues they might commonly have? I'm hoping they are generally good cars because I absolutely adore the look and feel of them. Cheers! Becky.
