E36 2 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 This has got to be one of the most beautiful BMWs I have ever seen. Another gorgeous South Is car - I think we need more of these classics up here! http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/379887054/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/381394621/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/381397869/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/377250595/ Just incredible. kento 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2009 Thanks guys for the nice comments, they are most appreciated. The 202 car was mine, but I had to sell it due to business commitments. She ran a turbo 3.5ltr engine with 460hp plus and 750 ish Nm of torque. I only ever completed one race with it running properly before the sale was forced upon me three days later. "Sabine" as she was known now lives in Florida where she has won her new owner podium finishes, and managed a 1st place in the concourse at "Road America". Sebring is her home track, and from here she tours the East Coast Historic race series, including venues such as Watkins Glen. Driving the CSl was an interesting experience with the turbo lag being considerable. The acceleration was neck snapping, cornering a little bit toward under-steer, then she would bite and flick to over-steer making for a challenging ride. A damp track was unspeakably hard to master. I don't think I have ever been so smitten and terrified of a car before or since leaving me with an understanding how masochists get their kicks. Too say farewell was difficult to say the least, however another CSL Batmobile race car is in gestation in our workshop, and I look forward to her arrival in the future......this one won't be for sale, but I may consider building a sister for someone else. That car is the real deal, totally correct as presented, and there is a photo of it in "unbeatable BMW" by Jeremy Walton. This car was also raced by Sugden in the same season that Soper raced it, 1991. It has gone to the USA to live.
TDP 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 My E3 isn't so cool anymore. Yeah... Probably not really worth keeping it eh? I guess I could be persuaded to take it off your hands, if, you know, it's getting in the way or something. I wouldn't even make you pay me anything for taking it away. In other news... Old BMWs are the dog's proverbials. I await with some interest the debut of kento's new CSL racecar.
