e38 740 slight miss when free reving

Hi guys my e38 has a slight miss when you slowly increase the revs while in neutral. Doesn't miss at idle but does from 1000rmp up. I also noticed today that the dash lights flicker slightly with the miss. It doesn't seem to miss under load while driving however last night is did notice the head lights flickering a bit while driving. Any ideas? I was going to start with the spark plugs then check earthing at plugs. Where are the main earthing points and plugs/sensors to check connections on.

I suggest you get it scanned first and go from there
