bravo 35 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 I've been using the companies register (companies.govt.nz) and the insolvency register (insolvency.govt.nz) to look up details of debtors, prospective tenants, and the like for years. I just discovered the personal property security register (ppsr.govt.nz) which is part of the same collection of Ministry for Economic Development websites and uses the same logon details. You can do a search for money owing on a vehicle, plane, or a credit check on a person for $1 once you have your direct debit account setup. You can also text a query to FIND (3463) by txting the rego plate followed by a quesiton mark followed by the vin or chassis number. The reply will state whether their is a security interest on the vehicle. You will need to logon to the website for more details. Txts cost $1. It's good stuff. PS - a quick browse also shows you can search the LMVD register aswell (motortraders.govt.nz).
