lookin to get an alarm from my parents for Christmas, whats a good alarm that is best value for money, not prob lookin to spend heaps, but i have no idea for prices or anything to tell the truth, as long as i have immobiliser, keyless entry etc im not really bothered, but yea, i know dynatron is the best, but obviously not lookin to spend that much

anyone got any idea for prices, what to look for etc?

In the latest NZPC that my mate got, theres a 2 page ad for some place in Auckland called Hyper mag and tyre acessory centre (I think) who do combos. Theres one that caught my eye, V1 radar detector, Goodyear tyres, tints and dynatron alarm installed. Don't have a clue on how much it'll cost though, or if there are any conditions to it.

dont bother with a shite alarm, go Dynatron all the way, and a decent installer also or its not worth it

I'm sure you have read this thread.

I listed a couple of prices for Dynatron alarms that i thought were reasonable.

Your best bet is to go into your local alarm installers, see what they have and for how much, and then ask whether that brand is good.

As a general rule I have found the mag and performance type shops to be more expensive than the smaller, specialised installers and auto-sparkies as they are marketing to the performance crowd with more money than sense, and the boy-racer crowd which just want to be able to HP the lot.

This is of course a generalisation, not a rule.

I second what sic said. You'll regret a sh*t alarm. I rung round heaps of places in the welly region and they all wanted $450 for a dynatron installed, if you can get it cheaper than that you gotta wonder how good the install will be?
